Most of us commoners can’t afford to eat out every day

Well last weekend we spent almost 40 dollars on take out pizza delivery and we were still hungry.

With 20 dollars 4 frozen pizzas we’d atleast be full. I can understand what your saying because I too am a commoner

Now I don’t have a wife but if she made me frozen pizza I’d be pretty happy :D

When you get diabetes from eating that crap what good will that $40 do for you?

Better spend the money at a decent ( yes expensive) restaurant. The rest of the time you can supplement with fruits during the day as snacks.

Then we can relax next to the nice fire places and afterwards we can go to playland and hangout with all are besties :D

I think I just had a heart attack imagining this!

  • Well enjoy it while you can. In a few years all that salt will screw up your heart and also cause you to require insulin…because you went for “cheap eats”

Actually, it will probably screw up his thyroid first by making it hyper.  That, in turn, will screw up his liver which will screw up his pancreas resulting in diabetes (insulin.) But hey, my husband is just going through it right now cause he used to eat a freaking bag of doritos for breakfast DAILY and then salt his microwave popcorn (as if it wasnt salted enough already!) So, do whatchew wan, cause I am cutting down the salt in take and taking an iodine tablet instead of iodinized salt…more expensive, but more control too!

Oh, and in the immortal words of Dr. Atkins,

IL, “sometimes you have to close your eyes and eat the d@mn pizza.”

    So eat the pizza! lol

  • I just have a few friends with these medical issues. I knew them as kids and saw what they did for food…always going to the easy way…and cheap garbage food. The result is a HUGE expense for themselves latter with a myriad of problems. They lose their freedom of movement, even freedom of thought…as they changed into victims of themselves…literally.

    Very sad.

  • It’s not like your only alternative to expensive fancy restaurant food every day is junk food.

You can eat at home - healthily and for much less $$$
I’m not talking about frozen pizza, and nobody has posted that frozen pizza is healthy.

  • No i was saying that eating at a nice restaurant does not mean it is unhealthy. I can be just as healthy as eating at home, but time is money so preparing food or cleaning can mean more hassle.

I suggest eating at a decent place and filling in the other parts of the day with fruits ( Grapefruit, Bananas and Berries) as smaller meals. Easy and no mess. Oh and Juice in the morning homemade.

  • Right - you were just over-reacting to someone who said in response to your post about eating out all the time, that “it is cheaper as well as healthier to eat at home.  Well, it can be healthier anyway”.

There was even that caveat in there!  It was just a generalization.

Excuse me sir… It was my understanding that peasants are not allowed to speak at the King’s table. ;)

Honestly, the only way to make sure that your food is as safe as you want is to grow it yourself.  I live in downtown Kansas City, and have a garden in my yard.  I’m getting ready to plant some fruit trees this weekend (Peaches – mmmmmm).  A fancy restaurant isn’t any “cleaner” than a fast food restaurant – the point is, you don’t know what you are being fed.

So, if you wanna clean it up, then the only way is to get your hands dirty and grow it yourself.

In the meantime… I’ll take some pizza.  :)  Although, to be fair, my wife and I actually make ours homemade, since it is so much better, and she’s gluten free anyway…

(I’m not over the top.  I eat meat I don’t grow myself, although with the cat population around here, I certainly could make some homemade Cashew Kitty… :D  )

  • Thanks, Dizz, interesting post

Are you sure the dirt in your garden is pure?

Yer dang right!  What are all these peons and peasants doing talking in my house!  wink

Look, eating at home can be healthy or unhealthy.  Healthy food costs more, but I am switching my whole family’s diet over to "if that’s not how it looked when God made it (nature if you prefer) then DONT EAT IT, because you can literally fool your brain into thinking it ate something (for instance it might think you ate an orange because you ate some gummy worms) and deny yourself the actual nutrients you need.

That said, sometimes I have to shut up and go to Dennys where they believe in truth in advertising:  “Food as good as it looks.”  D@mn straight!  Looks bad, tastes bad, bad for you, high calories, low nutrients, but it makes the boys happy and happy boys don’t flip my Axis and Allies table over.

Likewise, if Totinos keeps them from touching my game board, then more power to Totinos!

  • OMG never go to Denny’s

They did a study on that place and found they saturate all their food in salt, like 5 times the daily allowance in one freaking meal.

    Do you have kids?

Cause, I kid you not, it is literally the only place on earth where your kids cannot get you kicked out!

Is it poison?  probably.  Is it as bad as McDonalds?  hellz no!  Does it have pizza?  Well, I can’t really say NO, because they call it pizza on the menu, but I rather doubt it counts!

  • No kids. But somebody has to put their foot down to protect them from certain death, and Denny’s is it ( grim reaper of humans with death meals).

I was partial to an occasional Moon over my Hammy until i found out the salt content was off the charts. And those Hash browns taste like Kaka. Damn cheapest ingredients.
