The Matrix: Reloaded

I just saw the new Matrix movie, and was quite dissapointed. :-?
It was basically just a whole lot of martial arts fighting with a lot of special effects thrown in. There was a lot less of the “Wow” factor in this movie than in the first one.
There was a lot of confusion thrown into this movie, as I still have no idea what the rogue Agent Smith was trying to do. Just revenge, maybe? I don’t know. It looked like he was going for “The Key guy” at one point, but why would he? Also, the whole deal with The Architect, aka "Colonel Sanders :P " really made my head spin. I’ve never had to think harder about what the hell was going on in a movie than I did in that scene.
Also, I didn’t really like how they tried to be funny at some points, and how they threw a sexual theme into the movie. Oh well, I guess I shouldn’t have been expecting much, as sequels are hardly ever as good as the originals.

I liked the movie, though I can see why you didn’t like it. I loved the whole Philosophical part of the movie, it added something to the action. I’d consider seeing it again just to see the scene with the Arcitect again. And the action was amazing, although I guess they did overdo the slow motion a little bit. The only thing I really hated about the movie was the whole rave scene coupled with Morpheus’s speech. I mean come on! I’d give the movie an A-. It definately is worth seeing again.

I thought it was good, but not good enough, the rave scene with the sex and speech was just annoying. I think there was too much kung fu and not enough guns actually.
the twins were cool as well as the whole chase scene.

I friend of mine swears it’s the best movie he’s ever seen, I think he’s just a victim of the hype. I thought it was a decent movie, especially the action. The story left something to be desired and some of the dialog simply sucked. The action is definately worth the movie though, and it introduced some interesting concepts. Of course, in order to top the first movie it would have had to have blown my mind completely, which it was far from doing. The entire fate concept that was present only served to piss me off, so the ending was a little bit redeaming. Another thing that I really couldn’t understand was how Neo could just accept that he’s basicly a god to many of the people of Zion. In the first movie you sort of get the idea that he’s really reluctant to be the One, and now he seems fine with “blessing” people and things. Maybe I just think of Neo’s powers as strictly deligated to being within the Matrix (later proved wrong) so it just didn’t seem right to me that he would be considered god-like outside the Matrix. :D I loved this movie. Just saw it last night, was so cool! I’ll have to watch a couple more times to try and figure out some stuff of course, but nope I loved it. I didnt think they used too much slow-motion at all, I think the fight scenes were unbelievably cool. When I went to go to the bathroom, I almost jumped off the 20-ft in the air railing to get down cuz I was so pumped up! Then when I got to the bathroom, I felt like going kung fu on one of the stalls. lol a very cool movie, I wasn’t disappointed at all

Bossk, the question is, did Neo ever really leave the Matrix? And Neo was reluctant to act as a Messiah or God to those people, but they needed something to hope for and he did.

Anybody hear the talk about the movie series basically being a Bible ripoff? With things like Trinity(Mary Magdalene), resurrection, Morpheus(John the Baptist). There’s more, but I didn’t catch it all…

No, I meant redeeming. The redeeming thing in my mind was how Neo didn’t decide like the other Ones did, thereby breaking the cycle of fate, to some degree; although his decision was still pre-determined.
While the concept of Neo being the savior of mankind makes him subject to a heightened status I don’t think he deserves the god-like praise that he recieves (and he seems to recieve gladly). I see him more like a hero than a god; he’s got something special, but he’s not better than the rest of the citizens of Zion. As for there being two Matrices, that would explain the powers that Neo uses at the end, but it still doesn’t elivate him to being a god by any means. Just the concept of praising a man as a god (especially Keanu Reeves) just doesn’t seem right to me.

Actually, if you see it as a bible-ripoff only, then you don’t know too much about other religions and philosphy :).
The (first) Matrix movie is just full of symbols, metaphors and parabels (correct word?). The resurrection, well you have that in egyptian mythology. Being born again (!, as Neo is the One reborn) is something that would contradict christianity, but is common in many other faiths.
For the ressurrection, the symbolic kiss is more important: the kiss/breath of life. etc. etc.

A common trait in the history of mankind, to over-glorify and mystify leaders (wether spiritual or others). Happens in many many religions, with sons and daugthers of gods, or humans reaching god/ god-like status.

I think I’ll boycott his movies since he cannot handle criticism. Let us see how he handles a boycott. He’ll likely cry, “Sensorship!” as the other Hollywood dipsticks who do not understand the concept of choice… Hershey or Snickers…Merlot or Cabernet… Matrix III or Citizen Kane.

I believe that becauce I think that The Matrix (both the original, and Reloaded…and I’m sure Revolutions will follow suit) are incredible movies, and an incredible concept. I believe if anyone actually really committed themselves to researching and thinking and watching everything that has to do with the Matrix, they’d see that it’s a truly amazing film. I can’t wait to see the final one!

All through the scenes where Neo and co. were searching for the keymaker I kept wanting them to say, I am the gate keeper, are you the key master? I think that would have made it 10x better just on its own.
