    Well that was a few more nails in the coffin.  Another 50/50 battle that went the wrong way for me.  I forgot about the Italians creating a landing zone for the ftr and tac (since I did not really want to offer up Stalingrad to a 50/50 battle).

  • wish you good luck with the tax returns… I am supposed to work on mine sometime this month also… I was just not sure whether you did not think it is my turn or something… as I saw you active in the other game.     Okay.  But a little more time consuming than I would like.  Sorry that the other game got a little more attention, I try to keep it balanced, but that game had a series of interrelated moves that I did not want to lose track of what I was trying to do.

  • One more request: I have realized only now that my surviving submarines in sz112 would not block British from going all the way to sz111 and land in empty Germany and simply take my capital.

    Could you please move my whole navy from sz112 to sz111? I believe US cannot clear the cruiser in sz112 and my West Germany fighters should defend against landing via SZ111.

    You could redo your whole US move of course then…. Thanks in advance.


  • Actually, please keep 1 of my subs in SZ 112. This way, I believe, you get 22% chance to land in Germany via SZ 111. (1 destroyer + 1 sub have to win or draw against 1 cruiser + 2 subs)

    I believe, in SZ 111, you would get as much as 33% chance to break into Germany if I were not to keep a sub there.

    Anyway, I screwed this up! Giving you 22% chance to get 138 (Germany -69, UK + 69) gain in PU is huge! You should definitely try it… in the worst case you will lose 24 (sub + destroyer) + transport + infantry) but potential gain of 138 is huge. I can only hope that my luck will hold


  • In a case you feel the edit is too much… then I scramble all 3 fighters to SZ112 hoping in a miracle that my cruiser would survive the attack (keep him as long as possible)

    Here is what I am asking to edit:

    move 2 subs + cruiser form SZ113 to SZ114

    If this edit is too much to ask for, then:

    scramble 3 fighters to SZ113, keep my cruiser as long as you can in the battle.

    While I would like to accomodate the edit request, I think it moves outside the place for edits to be used.  As I see it, edits can be used to fix obvious things that weren’t done (forgot to land planes, didn’t move into an open territory before ending combat move, etc.) or things that triplea does not handle correctly (like the odd way it sometimes deals with transports that blocks you from making a legal move).  In instances where you realize you would like to change a move (i.e. move differently than you actually moved), I think those edits need to be communicated before your opponent moves, or at least makes any moves relating to the change.  That is why I withdrew my request for the change to the British move to protect the Russian tanks, I thought it set a bad precedent in that regard (even though I realized the problem before you moved, you had moved before I had a chance to say anything).  As it stands it is a 50/50 gamble on my part anyway, so given the dice roles it will probably turn out fine for you anyway (if not it gives me a shot in the arm, but probably does not alter your inevitable victory).  I will do the move later today, when I get home from work.  I am glad we are continuing the game, since we have some interesting action ahead.


  • I definitely agree that in a competitive play this no way to be edited… For me however losing this game this way would feel stupid… I mean, I would be much happier if I am defeated by a skilled play from your side where I can learn new strategies… not by a rule misinterpretation from my side.

    …here I would lose the game not because I had a bad strategy… but because I forgot a technical detail that subs don’t block ships.

    … my strategy actually was to make your landing in Germany impossible… the move I made however is not at all what my true intention was… If I remembered the rule properly I would definitely buy at least 1 extra sub to even not give you those 22% chance I was asking for now.

    Anyway… if you want to get a cheap victory go for it… To me this edit is pretty much of the same level as I asked you to replace a killed destroyer in SZ104 for a submarine from SZ109.

    In both situation I had a strategy plan… but I keep implementing it in a wrong way… mostly due to the fact that it is my first A&A game ever.

    Also, I don’t see in what way this change of my navy position would alter your Russian response.

    Also we had a similar edit with you already… where you fell into a trap of South Korea attack… I allowed you to edit it back even after you got scrambling orders from me. I simply don’t like much winning/losing a game due to stupid mistakes on either side

    As per your Russian tanks in N. Africa … you withdrew your request before I could respond to it…

    anyway it is your choice here… but it will be probably a game over if you kill the cruiser (45% chance) as there is no way Germany can do anything after 138 PU swing in the favor of UK. So from now on US can pretty much safely put all of its economy into Pacific and there is then simply no way Japan can get the 6th VP.
