So far I’m happy with the variant, but unhappy with the time it takes to do the set-up each time…
It takes about two hours to interpret the randomized numbers and edit the map accordingly.
There has to be a quicker way to do it, I just need to think about shortcuts.

Should be able to program the algorithm into unit placement… if you can find the person who made the game? Is it open source this game?
But from seeing 2 placements, so far it seems as if the radomisation favours the axis. Prob not down to algorithm or luck, but to the wider geographical structure of the map and individual factions

I see what you mean. Initial defense for Allies is tougher, but their key units are also protected when shunted into backwater territories. Take for example the new Canadian navy; if they’d been closer to Europe they’d have all been flattened from the start.
Nevertheless, the Axis have fewer territories at the start of the game, and therefore it stands to reason that they have less to lose on average by randomizing. Perhaps the weaker player should always be Axis in this variant for balancing purposes?
