    Heh heh… the Pacific theatre is the only part of this game I still find interesting.  I’d be curious if China & ANZAC suffice to get Japan completely off the Asian mainland, but meddling from the USA & Germany is going to spoil that proposition.

    I also don’t know what the optimal moves are at this stage, which is why I’m typically happy to call it a day before the game gets to this stage.  if you’re taking notes in case you end up in this position later as the Allies yourself, I think I would have been better off going with INF/ART instead of INF/ARM for each boatload.  I would have saved exactly enough each round to buy a Fighter, so I could have slowly increased my stock over there.  I went with ARM for the extra offense/defense, but I was getting most of my offense from planes anyway and you frequently had enough there to counterattack that my defense probably didn’t matter.

    I also didn’t think through all the consequences of losing Spain, although I was smart enough to try and save my Bombers.  I should have built an Air Base in Morocco the turn before your attack and relocated all of my planes to safety, allowing for maximum scrambles to cover my fleet as before.  Now I’m going to be pretty hosed for a quite some time.


  • I agree with your thoughts about the transport filling…at $6, I think armor is not worth the price unless you have a NEED for blitzing that mech infantry cannot provide. For taking territory, I prefer an inf/rtl combo - for the reason you mentiong - it is cheaper - and it you are looking to stock an invansion fleet - you save enough money to buy an extra unit somewhere.

    As for Spain - the key there was of course Italy on the take - allowing me to capture Gib and Portugal and land all my planes. If US wants to take it back badly enough, they can build up again - Italy certainly is not in a position to spend tons of money adding extra units at this point.
