I have not looked at the map. Was Germany in a position to have odds on the fleet and East United States?

61% to sink the fleet, although TripleA won’t take into account the fact that the German BB is damaged, then 80% to take E. USA. Something I could have easily fixed by moving out units from Central USA that had no compelling reason to be there. Let me know if you want another game MM.
another victim of the “curse of the clever” - make a great move that is potentially crippling and get cripled yourself. sorry MM, been there many times. extremely frustrating.
Correction, 67% on the fleet attack, I forgot the Gibraltar NB repair for the BB.
Interesting to see how that could have played out, since I certainly would have retaken the E. USA on either the US or British turn. Maybe I still could have held out… probably not, but not completely unthinkable.
Yes - you could have possibly come back - but the advantages were great. Germany with 120 IPC. No US units in a position to do anything for 3 turns….should have won both battles - 70% on naval - but, got 2 hits only and got hit 6 of 7 on defense - cannot account for that.
Whole thing was a bit cheesy to be honest - and in hindsight I should have just continued the game as played (and I am not saying that because the dice went bad - even if I won, I still wish I had just played the game out to see how we would do)
Oh well :)

Heh heh… 70% is in the range where you might expect victory, but still need to have a backup plan for failure.
There are some battles where there is no plan b. That is why I wish I had just continued the game - we would have had more fun that way and been a better gauge of our play….
