Don’t worry Worsham. You are very passionate about the subject and I am still learning.
Sorry I did not check and discreetly tell you by PM.
Hope you are having a good weekend. The 4th tomorrow….
I didn’t know that Cromwell.
The South were his family’s lands, so I suppose he would have felt the urge to protect them and its people.
All we can say, is that he should not have rushed. But then we weren’t there.
He almost won the battle( on the 14th October).
Think I posted about Hastings last year, so will not repeat!
Underrated by whom? I think a lot of professional military historians (Tim Hoyt at Naval War College for one) see Caesar as one of the finest ever, far better than Alexander or Napolean. When you look at the number of people and provinces he defeated, it is staggering. Then you compare that with the number of casualties his forces took (damn, damn few), and it is breathtaking.
No, it is an energy weapon. Even the targetting system of the Phalanx is not THAT good. And if there IS a targetting system that will fit on a tank that IS that good, then the Phalanx would be turned into a single-shot weapon TOMORROW :-)
