The other day I was reading about some altermate rules for Pacific, changing taking away the U.S. factory from Hawaii, and having Japan capture both Australia and India, but I cannot find the the topic anymore…can anyone help me?

It also includes U.S. not starting with its initial IPC’s. I tried it once. My friend was playing Japan. After the British sank two of his battleships, he gave up. However, I think i would have done better.

Great-looking overlays, and a good reflection of how WWII might have ended if the A-bomb hadn’t been used. The Americans were planning to invade Japan in two stages, with Kyushu as the first stage (Operation Olympic) and Honshu as the second stage (Operation Coronet), and the Soviets had plans to invade Hokkaido. Very nice work.

True there are no victory conditions at all. Ultimately, one power will become the strongest amongst all. If a victory condition is really needed, it would be survive and defeat all other players.
And also its correct that it will turn out to be an open-ended game will maybe double or triple game time of the original game.

The reason this house rule is developed is that me and my friends often find ourself in the position of becoming dominating powers as Russia, Germany or the USA but still want to continue the game and expand our hard-built empire. At the end of the day, it is just a house rule that me and my friends loved and would like to share with other A&A lovers here.

Regarding the Excel file, you all are certainly welcome to use it! I’ve also integrated the rules and charts into electronic versions of the original 2nd edition rulebooks but I’ve not posted those because I’m not sure if that’s OK/legal to do outside of my own private use. :? If it is OK, I’d be happy to post those as well.

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal, but OK. I mean that it’s illegal in the sense that writing Transformers fanfiction is illegal: It probably violates a copyright law, but Hasbro is never going to do anything to you because you aren’t making money off of it and they won’t waste the time and effort to sue you.

I would rather prefer to limit them to their role of AA gun but, specialy for Germany, it seems they used a lot their 88mm AAA as antitank gun (El Alamein battle, i.e.).

I like that because you are correct, in Real Live, AA was just high-velocity ammo pointed at the sky, point it at a tank like the Germans did, it became an effective anti-tank.

I like the idea of taking out tank and/or armor for the pre-combat AA roll.

I don’t know if it would be unbalanced but I think I will try this next game

I just learned that Germans put their Flak 88 on tracks and plates so it becomes the Tiger (Mark VI) and deliver them for the Battle of Kursk in 1943.
This gun seems quite an invention.

So where we at on these markers?

[u][b]Rail Station:[/b][/u]

Cost: 12-15 Attack: - Defense: - Move: -

These can only be build in controlled areas that contain a factory and only one per territory. If placed in an area that contains a major factory they can move 10 units, and 3 if placed in a minor factory, and they must start from Rail Station. If the factory is damaged the rail movement is equal to placement value.

Rail Stations have a fixed AA defense of 1 roll like AB or NB.

In order to move units you must also build Rail Markers to indicate direction of travel.

[u][b]Rail Markers:[/b][/u]

These markers cost 6 IPC each and allow land units to move from rail station along whatever path of Rail Markers have been built. They can be damaged by SBR up to six points. the first points reduce the number of land units that may move to a total of 6. ( if the Rail Station starts with a major factory you may still move 4 units) The distance is unlimited as long as you built a connected line of Rail Markers. Rail markers have no fixed AA gun defense. If the enemy captures the area where a Rail Marker is present, it is destroyed.

Or, use A@A pieces on a risk board.
Infantry are worth 3 reinforcemint point
artillary are worth 4 points
tanks 5
fighters 10
bombers 15
transports 8
well, you get the idea.
Build a factory, (15 points) and all the units that you buy to place there, cost 2 points less!
Protect it well, if a enemy captures it, then they can use it.
The only way to get from one continent to another is with a transport “bridge”. One transport per dotted line is enough to ferry your army/armies across.
Use A@A combat rules, and movement, or risk combat and movement, your choice on what you are comfortable with.
It will be a slower game than Risk, but interresting none the less.
I think I will set this up this weekend and see how it plays myself. It could be a good cross-over to get Risk players interrested in playing A@A. :wink:
