Although I don’t have much luck with alliances and stuffs in this game.
I still fail to see the advantage of UK making my small fleet being crushed by France other than crippling an already weak player that was trying to help him. -
I’m on a steep learning curve in this game and did nothing malicious. If we all play well there should be several top player changes as we all want to win. It seems like a bad rule that I wouldn’t help defend an ally. Even if I do have a ceasefire with the attacker… By definition an ally should come to another ally’s aid. Why doesn’t the game take that into account?

Because in this game your units attack only those with which you are at war. The move itself was actually not bad, it weakened two of your competitors (we’re all competitors after all) at no cost to yourself.

What is the point of an alliance in this game then?

You can’t go from alliance straight to war so it is much more difficult to backstab someone (and thus much easier to trust that person) when you are allied.

Sorry Noll. I was only safeguarding my interests(Egypt). I accepted a UK Ceasefire as I could take one of you out of the picture. I thought we were all trying to win.
It is an excellent game because of the possibilities created by the POlitical Table.

We’re just waiting for Noll, he said he would be back. If he isn’t we can still get an AI to replace him, though I would prefer not to.

Would have to be no politics. France/Spain. Sweden/Ottomans. UK/Prussia. Austria/Russia.
Do people think that would work? Would have to be 2 sides.
I know the politics are half the fun, but they make it very slow. -

So you don’t mind if I just let the AI play Ottomans and post the turn after that? I think I’ll wait a bit longer (will be very busy the next week anyway) but if Noll isn’t back by then it may be better to just move on.

If we find is not working without a human player, then we rethink.I know Sweden/Ottomans is the weakest link in the 4 player idea, but I think France and UK on opposite sides is the best set up.
They are the only two allies who cannot help each other as they are on opposite sides of the map. Just thought we could try a four player version.
Not sure how we would decide a winner!
