I’m sorry about that - stuff like that can mean the game. I think a similar thing happened to me in our first game, when I attaked your Japanese position in Yunnan with 6 infantry and a fighter and failed to get a hit… it meant the loss of India for me.
Moments like these are why I’m a big fan of modified low luck.

I’m surprised Britain wasn’t tempted to go for the Gibraltar fleet combo recommended by Cow, it seems even more tempting when the Froggies are still there to support it. Personally I’m not convinced it’s worth the trade-off of not giving Italy the round 1 pasting they so richly deserve.

Eqq, I didn’t for a couple reasons.
No J1 DOW, so the US is on the sidelines. If he wants to, G2 can shut down Gibraltar and then I’m stuck in there (now without my Gibraltar Naval Base to move around) with the entire pissed-off Italian navy. Plus, I wanted him to burn some more German planes. From our last game, he knows what a premium I put on Cairo, so I figured he’d want to try to save Italian hardware at any cost.
The initiative against Italy is the one and only thing that UK has going for it. I’d like to keep a little bit of it :-)
Of course, if I get routed doing Taranto without scratching that fleet, this is going to hurt. And I’m going to look dumb.
