we will agree with your suggestion or come up with an alternative in the fastest time possible for us.

Sounds good.  Are you all in the continental US?  What are your schedules like?  Are you able to coordinate readily or will turns requiring coordination take several days?

  • '17 '16 '15 '12

    no, I am from Europe.

Back to my example. If you give us an option to flip a coin to decide who gets Allies for the last bid amount which is 14 PUs in the example, not for zero, I’am confirming our starting bid Allies +15. If you are saying Ancients, you can only post a lower bid or accept the current one , let me know and I give you another bid shortly. In any scenario, when a bid is accepted, negotiations are over, no any coins, and game begins.

so IF we were to bid +14 (we are NOT making an active bid since I have yet to speak to my partner), what are you saying the next possible steps would be?  in my mind you either give it to us at 14 or you bid lower, no coin flips.

what are you saying the next possible steps would be?

The next step could be accepting, posting lower bid, or coin to decide who takes Allis with the last bid amount. That is just our proposal. Feel free to decline it and we can go with your mind. I need to know. Our starting bid depends on your decision.

you guys should just keep things simple: accept the opponent bid or bid lower. no coin flipping lol.

Although if ancients insists on the coin flip thing, I would if I were bolddutch… bid like 6 and see what happens lol. That way if they flip you are good either way LOL.

  • '21 '20 '18 '17 '16 '15 '14 '13

Ancients insist on nothing. I’m waiting you to confirm the only “accept the opponent bid or bid lower” rule.

let’s keep it simple and say we will go with the “accept the opponent bid or bid lower” rule if you are ok with that?  if so, go ahead and submit a new bid if you like.

    Allies +6

  • '12

    @Me1945:

    Allies +6

a very shrewd bid, as this is the amount I had in mind to bid in response to your +15 bid.  i will confer with my partner, the Dutch one, and get back to you.

  • '21 '20 '18 '17 '16 '15 '14 '13

    For your further references.
It is good idea not to rush with rolling a dice and stipulate a bidding step first. I don’t think our team took the advantage of bidding first fully.

    Me1945:

I don’t understand, again.  I’m not sure what you mean by rushing…  if we are bidding, which is the tournament rule, then one must decide who will bid first.  You WON the die roll to bid first, and gave a bid of allies +15.  Then I gave you the option to change your bid once we clarified that there would be no “coin flipping” and you bid allies +6.

Are you now not feeling good about your bid of +6?  I don’t believe there was any discussion of a deadline by which a bid must be put forth?

Can one of the Ancients please explain what Me1945 is trying to say - I surely want everyone to feel like all was done fairly before we begin the match.  I find it hard to understand how one could say that TeamBoldDutch has done anything underhanded but please let me know if you feel otherwise.

    Cheers

    Never mind, Boldfresh.
    Everything is good and fair.

Ancients, take the Allies.  How do you want to spend your 6 IPCs?

Good luck and have fun.  Cheers.

  • '17 '16 '15 '12

GL to you as well, all settled I hope.

Just one question for my future understanding: Bidding is tournament rule? As I understood it, if one team does not want to bid at all, it would be a die roll, no more questions asked?

What is the purpose of the die roll concept?  I still have never understood it.  A negotiated bid makes infinitely more sense to me.  Can someone please illuminate me as to what this die roll concept is all about?

Only thing I can imagine is if you know the sides are even and the opponents are of equal skill it could save time?

by Garg, post #521 on the XDAP tourney thread:

I’m happy with one of either.

    A. Coin Flip
    B. BOTH parties agreeing to a bid, and then bidding.

I’ll leave it up to you…

then Garg added the bomber and addressed the bid again in post #763:

    Boldfresh’s assessment is correct.

Put the bomber on the board, and bid from that point or don’t.

Back to my comments now:  apparently sides can be chose by EITHER die roll OR bidding (but I do not think some combination of both, at least no that I have ever seen).  As I said, the coin flip never made ANY sense to me so I suggested we start the bidding process to determine sides.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Otherwise, we patiently await your bid placement.

    Cheers

  • '17 '16 '15 '12

either, yes. Might have been confused when bidding started without asking if it is wanted by both sides. A combination is tricky, I agree there.

We will come up with a placing soon.

later today, actually. And then lets look forward to G1.
