    From what I can see, the 2 destroyers participated to the battle in the Phillipines as a result of a combat move. The presence of the 2 destroyers there was not consequential to the outcome of the battle in zone 35, so it’s fine to retreat the 2 destroyers back to Japan. If the presence of the units had been important to the results of the battle, I would not be receptive because someone could pretend the units did not mean to go there if the battle goes well, but could not say anything if the units helped the battle. In this case, the battle should have gone well for Japan with / without scramble and the destroyers did not matter, so this principle does not really apply. Is this a fair point?

    Interesting move by the way, awaking the sleeping giant early!


  • Yeah, totally fair. I’d be willing to reroll my part of the battle if you wanted, just to assuage any concerns you may have. Kind of pointless to reroll your part of the battle, as you can’t get better than 2-for-2  :-)

    Yeah, I’ve never gone J1 before. “Like…ever…” I don’t play Axis much, but the J3 Calcutta move seems to be my go-to where you move the fleet and the loaded transports in NCM behind any potential UK blockers before you DOW on J3. I got schooled on that one time, though, so I’m looking for a different opening.

    I’ll finish up NCM. Let me know if you want me to reroll my half of the naval battle and I’ll set it up.
