A few tips:
1. Focus on the money islands as Japan, get Borneo, Malaya, Sumatra, Java, Celebes, etc. and hold them.
2. Kill all the British ships in 110 and 111 first round as Germany.
There are a couple good articles in the G40 forum about strategies to use for each side.
