I’m curious, does anyone play the Classic with a homebrew Cold War set up? I’m thinking about copying the A&A Iron Blitz set up, but if anyone has their own, I’d love to see it!

@Mn-guy Yes, other units can participate in the sea battle. Other than being a prelude to an amphibious assault, it is just like any other sea battle. The rules on page 15 mention only battleships and transports because they are the only units that can participate in the land battle.

As a side note, attacking air units must, of course, be assigned to either the sea or the land battle, as indicated by where they end their combat movement. They cannot participate in both, even if the amphibious assault is against an island.

@Krieghund Thanks! (For completeness, I should have been more clear in that Germany controlled Persia at the beginning of its turn in this example. i.e. there was/is a legal landing zone for the fighter)

@coachdcj Player 2 is correct. From the Official Rules Clarifications document (page 4):

You can never give an ally anything: units, territories or I.P.C.'s.

Hello,
It is the US’s turn. We are still on turn 1, so the US is the last to go. My mother is Germany and I, Japan. I tried to go into China but got extremely unlucky with no rolls. I did take Pearl Harbor though. What should we, Axis, do next. My original goal was to take China here and fortify. Then I would finish US there and expand west, while also maintaining strong East. Not sure how I can do that now, though. Help.

The practical application in an actual game is the following:

This can adversely affect naval battles with multiple unit types on both sides and land battles in which the defender has a bomber(s) or a defense with multinational forces present.

It can cause the defender to misallocate his hits not knowing if the attacker is going to roll hot, cold or par.

It came with a cardboard sheet of custom roundels that look pretty old. I have never seen these before they include: 4 yellow with the image of a zero, 6 yellow pill box, 12 jap control markers with numbers in the center, 12 USA control markers with numbers in the middle of them, 10 marines with eagle globe and anchor logo, 6 commando with skull and cross bones logo, 6 German SS with patch logo, 4 fighters unavailable this turn for duty with red circled a/c logo, 6 paratroopers with patch logo, 6 air transport with a/c art work, 6 troop carriers with truck art work, finally 2 with artillery art work. Any ideas as to who made them?
