this is sort of happening, currently, in my game with gamerman - the highest ranked league rank currently in action (although soon that will be Me1945 vs. Gamer)
anyway, we get lots of comments from the peanut gallery - mostly JDOW. LOL
-
I can commit to doing it. It’s only one game, and I’m not highly ranked. It probably doesn’t matter if people know what I’m thinking because I don’t have a long range plan aside from Germany takes Moscow. lol
Plus most of my strategies have some adaptability built in so I can react to what my opponent does. I may think I’m going to do something two rounds from now, but that will change the turn-of because some no possibilities have come to light. It wouldn’t matter to much if they knew what I was planning on do if I end up not carrying out that plan.
Even the best laid plans can fall apart because of dice, anyway.
So who’s up for some verbose summaries while playing a mediocre-rated Whack? I will promise not to read my opponents strategies posted in the separate thread. Anybody want to promise the same and get it on?
-
I’d play a game that way. I am not concerned whether you read the thinking behind the moves or not since my plans usually don’t last long or are obvious
Don’t get me wrong, surprise is good and has won me some games I would have otherwise lost … but I never rely on surprise unless I am desperate.
-
Actually, if we could get three pairs of players to volunteer, two tier 1, two tier 2, and two tier 3 players, to comment on what they are doing as they go, I think the different thoughts that go into buys and moves with each tier of ability might make for some thought provoking reading.
On the other hand, some comments might not be very illuminating:
I’ll buy 3 artillery, 1 mech and 7 infantry as the Russian opening buy because that fits neatly into 37 and I try to come close to 1 art to 2 infantry when buying to balance offense and defense.
-
Well I’d volunteer for tier 1 then if anyone is interested.

To be honest, I’d love to even hear these “simple” things from tier 1 players. I’m very interested in small details especially in the early rounds and the purchases.

I am always willing to talk about what I’m doing if someone is watching a game I’m in and wants to know. If the information isn’t getting to my opponent, I would enjoy this. I’m not signing up - I’m saying anyone can ask me to comment on my thought processes or moves any time. I guess if people want to know, I would be willing to do this going forward in my game vs. Wheatbeer. I have a humdinger of an R14 move to do right now. But maybe the interest is more in the first 5-6 rounds when there are more standard situations? I don’t know

Looking for another league game. PM me! :-)

So I have been away from the game (online anyway) for a whole year. :-o It now looks as if AA50 has been abandoned for G40. Is that the general feeling?

Boldfresh convinced me to find some games for global 1940 2nd edition.
Looking for as many opponents as possible.
I will start the bid off at 13 allies.
If you bid 12 the allies are yours.
-
If you think the bid is too high, you will need it for my axis.
-
Welcome back Cow
Bold is right - you needed to come back -

Allies at 13 is yours. I’ll start a thread and I’ll start moving beginning of next week. This week is crazy, but I’ll have plenty of time the next three weeks and forward.
-
You might get a lot of takers with those bids
-
yeah, i think i’ll take that bid - you can have allies at 13.
-
I think I should have made the bid a bit higher since league finally got around to adopting 1 unit per territory rules.
Bid 14 ipcs.
If you go 13 it is yours.

is this in general for new games or are you referring to our bold/cow and bold/arathorn games as well?
-
For new games. I do favor the 1 unit per territory limits.

I will let you have 14 in our game since you weren’t aware of the new league “standard” of usually going with 1 unit per tt.
Feel free to add the extra IPC anywhere.
