XDAP03 Norse elite vs. TeamBoldDutch

  • '12

    2nd edition rule changes are:

    1. korea is no longer excluded from the mongolian-russian defense agreement.  ie if russia enters korea, it cancels the agreement and mongolia simply becomes a strict neutral.

    2. 1 less british inf in egypt

    3. yukon territory is merged into british columbia (or stated another way, no one ever enters yukon territory).

but again, those changes are NOT IN EFFECT for our game, just any games going forward in the tourney.

Those are stupid changes. I wish they’d just leave it alone already.

Larry and whatever other designers have made MANY questionable changes and decisions the past 2 years.

i waited 2 years to start playing global because i knew they were going to be changing it so much.  presumably, any changes at this point will be very minor, as these are.

  • Well I enjoyed playing through the evolution and having input into the final game.  Having played it several different ways, I know what rules I prefer.

Here’s my take after all the dust has settled:
    The Mongolia rules suck.
    The split victory conditions suck.
    The Russian NO’s suck.

So I think 2nd edition is a regression of sorts.  Change the above 3 issues and you have a much better game.
But I guess since you skipped all the Alphas you don’t know what you’re missing… all that matters is you’re happy I guess.  Stupid that fighting over Sydney or Honolulu or Calcutta is often for all the marbles.

    Well, just my opinion

Any update on when we can expect Italy?

  • '12

I am envisioning a big meeting tonight at the Axis headquarters at South Harbour.  Smoke fills the room as the three generals maniacally pore over the map.  A crucial moment in the Great War approaches, and the weight of this moment brings every second into crisp clarity.  A hush falls on the room, and Mussolini begins to speak……

Two of the three generals attended the Weekly gaming session.
Italy was told to move but is still in hiding. Maybe he lost control
and is held prisoner at some remote mountaintop?!

Adolf, get me Skorzeny on line two!
Help Benito out from his cave.

Jerngreipner should move very soon, but we seem to have lost our momentum :-)

Did you know that a Danish soldier was on the team that rescued mussolini?
Know you do. Stoffer Jernslips (Iron-tie) was his nickname (he got the Iron x).

    Back to the game….eventually.

  • '12

When a fast moving game grinds to a halt, I start to suffer from withdrawal…

    Mooooooossolini… where arrrrrrrrre you  :?

Yea, all that just get caught later by the communists? That must have been terrifying.  I bet Momar Ghadafi can sympathize some.

  • sorry guys , thanks for your patience
there will be no horseheads in your beds  :-D

Jerngreipner, all looks good except that you did not use the correct UK map.  There were a couple more noncombat moves I made - acc to z97 and trns to z120 and z64 that you did not have on the map you just posted.  we will adjust during ANZAC.

  • TripleA

    this game is hilarious.

  • '12

why do i feel there is going to be a Cow sililoquy coming soon to our pages…

here is the correct map.  Dutch is out of town for a few days, so I am going to suggest that because ANZAC and France will have no combat (Anzac decisions are only the buy and noncombat which will affect only Japan) we can say the ball is now in Ghostglider’s court for G6.  Probably before Ghostglider can even post, Dutch may check in and post ANZAC, but I say, WHY WAIT!!! when ANZAC is completely unrelated to the war in Europe.  Anzac is going to be buying either 2 inf, arm or inf, art or mech, aa and landing the fighters in NSW.  sub may move to another zone… thats it.  france has 2 units on the board, neither of which have any real bearing on the war in Europe.

    So, go ahead with G6!

  • TripleA

Japan is wishin he put 2 bombers on caroline last turn so he could get the extra two units he needed to take anzac over.

At least uk is controlled and italy has africa.

Then again allied income is +60 over axis. LOOOL.

  • TripleA

live n learn. always max out for capital battles.

when i say Dutch is out of town for a few days, i do not mean he is going to be unavailable.  he will be checking in and will be able to post moves.  i’m just saying for the time being, let’s let Ghostglider post a G6 if he can do so before Dutch checks in to make the minuscule decisions on ANZAC/France.  If i then post Russia as well before he checks in, then I will do ANZAC as well so Japan can proceed.  but most likely, Dutch will check in before Ghostglider even downloads the map.
