Unless Jenn objects, I am planning to sponsor 2 additional playoffs at the end of the year, for players who will not qualify for the official playoff.
A playoff for any excluded tier 1’s, and tier 2’s who sign up, and
A playoff for any tier 3’s who sign up.I will establish the brackets and administer/moderate the tournament.
Any tier 1 who does not qualify for the playoffs may enter the tier 2 tournament (these will be lower tier 1’s), so that no one tier 3 or above is exluded from a playoff.Only the winner of the league playoff by win % will be named league champion (the official league playoff) and
if you play in the official league playoff you are not eligible for these additional playoffs.I will create a web document sign up sheet and provide the link here soon.

The top 8 by win %, who have the required # of games played, will be in the league playoffs.
I am saying that those 8 are NOT eligible for the NEW, additional playoff that we are talking about now.
We want those players playing in the 2014 league, so we don’t want to encourage them to be in 2 different playoffs at the same time. You know how I said I didn’t complete an 8th game for 2012 because I wanted to stay out of the playoffs? Well the reason I only had 8 games finished was because of all the time it took to play the playoff games for 2011.
Also, it keeps someone from winning both and being a real killjoy :-), and it gives the guys who didn’t make the league playoff a better chance of winning in their own playoff.
In other words, the NCAA tournament teams are not welcome in the NIT!

Well if there are only 8 1st tiers then i do not see the problem, but if there is more of them, in some way they are loosing because tier 2 guys have their playoffs and they(level 1 - ones) are better then them(lvl 2) but can not have this reward of playing any playoffs.
So if we have more then 8 lvl 1 tiers then i do not know, maybe we should rearrange something making a bigger playoff so they can compete too.

A good point, and I already considered that and addressed it.
If you read my posts again, you’ll see that I said tier 1’s who don’t qualify for the 8 man playoff may join this tournament along with the tier 2’s. Also, if you go look at the sign up sheet, you will see this is reflected there (Tier 1’s are invited).
Really, any tier 1’s who are interested should sign up just in case they don’t make the big dance.

Someone PM’d a good question to me.
To play in the “NIT” Tourney, you need 4 completed league games to qualify (so you need a black lettered ranking, in other words).
You can sign up before you have completed 4, but you can only enter in November if you have completed 4 in the 2013 league year. -

It’s looking like we will have 2 additional (total of 3) playoff brackets, because we already have 7 players signed up on the first day and they’re not starting for 2 1/2 months from now. That is good.
I will be limiting brackets to 8 players, so no one will have to play more than 3 games.
It’s quite possible we will have more than 2 additional brackets (if we end up with 20+ players signed up)

Oh, and for clarity:
Minimum 4 games completed by 10/31/13 to qualify. No minimum PPG - all league players with 4 games completed are welcome.
If there is more than 1 additional playoff, then I will be dividing the players by 10/31/13 ranking. Top 8 tier1, tier2 players signed up but not qualifying for the official league playoff of the top 8 win% will be grouped, followed by the next 8 after that, etc.
Reason I point this out is because I want you to know if you sign up for the playoffs you will be matched up against players who have had the same level of success as yourself, so there shouldn’t be many blowouts, and there should be a lot of hotly contested, fun games. A 1.80 PPG player won’t be in the same playoff as a 3.50 PPG player assuming we have enough interest to have at least 2 more brackets (3 would be awesome - the ranges of players in each one would be narrower).

Signed up. Can’t remember which tier I’m in anymore so just signed up for the Tier 3/4.
Hoping once I finish a few more games I might slide into Tier 2 before the end of the year… ;)

I just abolished segregation.
There’s actually no need to specify what tier you’re in. Just sign up. Players will be grouped appropriately when the time comes.
We already have 11, so it’s looking like there will be at least 2 additional playoffs/tournaments, for a total of 3+ different playoff/tourneys at the end of the year! Should be exciting. -
OK, figured out how to get notifications every time anyone edits the signup sheet, so I can now assure you that there will be no monkey business without my knowing. The integrity of the signup sheet is now assured.

How strict are people here when it comes to slow play? Is it considered rude to post “bump” right when the 72 hour mark has been passed? One of my opponents had his last post done 83 hours ago, and I am unsure if I am a cocky douchebag if I give the bump warning now.

It’s up to the individual players.
I feel it is good sportsmanship to allow extra time if forewarned of a situation. I will also hear extenuating circumstances like “I dropped my computer off to be serviced and the service department did not give it back for 14 days.” Right now is back to school time so the service departments are slammed and not everyone knows how to fix a computer. (Surprised some people know how to turn on a computer, to be perfectly frank with you!)
If you want to post a bump at 83 hours, go for it. 72 is the minimum. If you want to wait for 96 hours you can. I wouldn’t see it as a jerk move if a bump was posted at 72 hours, 1 minute against me (unless of course I said ‘hey, I’ll be out for the next 4 days, you okay with that?’ and they said ‘yes’)
