2013 - AAG 40 League

  • Yeah, I have no issue really either way. I could see a huge benefit in rolling everything manually to avoid confusion like you stated. I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.  :-D

  • Jenn, and everyone,

Apparently the Triple A tech problem was a false alarm.
Veqryn says the engine is rolling a 5 sided die when you have 1 tech already, a 4 sided die when you have 2, etc. so each remaining tech has equal likelihood.

If this is the case (I will test it myself now), then there is no need to roll tech manually.

  • Seems good.

I gave Germany the first 4 chart 2 techs.  When I got a breakthrough, Triple A rolled a “2” and awarded heavy bombers.  A “1” would have been LRA.

This time Triple A didn’t deserve your derision, Jenn.  False alarm.

  • In lieu of the rule to roll tech dice on the forum, I suggest a rule that all ROCKET attacks are rolled on the forum.  See my list, attached (I updated it and edited it tonight), to see why.  There are 3 very significant procedural errors with rockets in Triple A.  You should skip them in Triple A and roll them manually during the SBR phase of the conduct combat phase, and edit for the results.

  • Guys,

When the Axis take the 6th or 8th VC (let`s say on Italy 7)

Do they have to have them the ENTIRE round until Italy 8 or it is enough they have it in Italy 7 and Italy 8.

In other words Italy takes 8th VC on rd7. USA retakes the 8th VC on rd 8. Italy takes it again on rd 8.

    Have the axis won?

And does triple a abides the rule here?

    Thank U :)

  • Amon,

I don’t know about Triple A on this

You have to maintain the 8 cities for an entire round, until I8, without EVER dipping below 8 for a moment.  You can lose a city and still win only if you got up to 9+ cities at the time you lost one.  Once you dip below 8, you have to start all over.
Any combination of cities works.  The key is that you must maintain 8 (or 6 on Pacific) or more at all times for a complete round of play once you get the 8th (6th)

I am still going to go with all technology rolls to be done using the inhouse dicey where you can link ME with the results if an issue arises.  (You know, so I can go to your game thread and see the actual dice results.)

By all, I mean even the first roll of the game for technology until the last roll of the game for technology.  This gives me the ability to see the thread and know what the actual roll was and how many sides the die had when it was rolled.

If you two players want to use TripleA for your technology rolls, go for it.  Just don’t come crying to me about your opponent “automatically” getting long range aircraft on his success.  I have a hard enough time sorting out the marti rolls in my own inbox. lol.

  • Um, I don’t think tech rolls are going to be an issue with anybody
There won’t be anything to investigate or settle

If you’re going to decree something, it should be that rocket attacks are done manually.  That’s where your likely to get disagreements and problems if it’s done in Triple A.

Yea, see, I’ve typed like like 7 8 times now.

My opinion of the matter is that it is easier to rule on well documented issues.  If the dice server installed here rolls a 6 for technology, the player posts he is rolling on chart 2 and rolls a 4, I know exactly what technology he got.  I dont have to deal with 5.75 sided dice that you can only roll on a tuesday if there is no cloud cover and your sister isn’t kissing you at the time the die was rolled.  :P

However, if you want to use the tripleA dice server, go for it.  Just keep in mind, if you end up kissing your sister when you roll a 5.75 sided die and you get a 3 for the 7th time in a row resulting in your opponent complaining that you should have a 3 because the universe so decreed then you are going to have to explain to me why you were kissing your sister!

There, see, I did it without ranting!  i knew I could do it!

  • And still not a mention of my suggestion for manual rocket rolls…

    @Gamerman01:

And still not a mention of my suggestion for manual rocket rolls…

I prefer all rolls to be done through the house server. :P

If you roll rockets incorrectly through TripleA then it sucks to be you, your opponent gets the best deal possible.  Dice mistakes always hurt the aggressor more than the defender.

  • That works - thanks

A question:  can a combat move be made during noncombat that involves an actual battle?

My opponent failed to declare a battle, and then rolled the other battles.  After this battle was done, here is the game log:

"  Non Combat Move - Russians
                Turning on Edit Mode
EDIT: Removing units owned by Germans from Novgorod: 1 infantry
EDIT: Changing ownership of Novgorod from Germans to Russians
                EDIT: Turning off Edit Mode
                Turning on Edit Mode
                EDIT: Turning off Edit Mode
EDIT: 12 infantry moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 22 infantry moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 13 artilleries moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 2 aaGuns moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 4 armour moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 2 mech_infantrys moved from Belarus to Novgorod
EDIT: 2 mech_infantrys moved from Belarus to Novgorod"

All of this was done without even asking me if I allowed the edit or not.  Now, I’m not one to disallow edits, (and even, for example, walk-ins), but this one seems different to me.  I have forgotten to declare battles before myself, but would never be so bold as to ask my opponent to rectify my error – but maybe I should start.  Are we allowed to just edit the game for “obvious” battles that we forgot?

His explanation:  “I forgot to move my big stack into Novgo to take out that one guy when I set up combat, so I just edited and gave your guy credit for a hit and took one of my infantry off.”

So, my question is, is this a legal move?  If not, would you allow this anyway (I have already allowed edits during the game), even with the knowledge that your opponent doesn’t have to ever grant you the same favor?

    Thanks for your input!

  • @Cmdr:

As for issues in regards to league:

You can alter your CMs to your heart’s content UNTIL you ask for scrambles or OOLs.  Once the defender has committed (and before dice are rolled) you are committed.
If you start rolling dice and forget a CM or want to change a CM you are SOL.  The die is cast (pun intended) and you are committed.
Now you can finish your combats and do your NCM.
Your NCM is committed when you post your build order.  Until then, you can still alter it.
Your build order is committed when you post your income.

Note:  Illegal moves can only be changed up until the start of the next turn.  Once you start throwing dice, the mistakes of your opponent are committed, you have in essence - agreed to accept the illegal move.  This is only to prevent issues like saying “wait, how did you get your transport there, you moved 3 spaces without a naval base 7 rounds ago!  We have to fix it…” etc.  I feel this is an issue that does more damage than just allowing the mistake.  We’re going to assume mistakes are MISTAKES not efforts to cheat.  Of course, if a pattern of this behavior becomes evident, then you should report it to myself or DarthMaximus (g’luck, he’s on vacation!  I’ve yet to hear of him returning, so…it’s me or nothing for now!)

If YOU, as the contestants in the game in question, decide to allow a correction, then YOU are stuck with it.  I admit that I will almost always allow an opponent to fix something like forgetting to annex a friendly neutral or walk into an undefended territory if they forget.  Failing to realize I had another airbase and can scramble 6 fighters and the odds are HORRIBLY against you now, I probably won’t (unless you agree to give me a mulligan. lol.)  Of course, as the attacker you have the option to retreat after the first round, so you’ve got quite a bit of advantage anyway.  Mistakes, after all, can be attributed to the “fog of war” no?

Jenn ruled on this a month ago.  This should help you.

I have a question regarding time limits/ victory by default.
I have a game going in which my opponent hasn’t posted in some time. He had made a post stating he would be gone for a couple of weeks, but it’s been almost two months now.
I realize that I could claim victory by default but I would rather the win would be by defeating him.
So I’m just wondering what other players would do in a situation like this…claim the victory by default or just wait it out.

I post for victory by default, with a rider that I’m willing to finish the game if he returns before the end of season.

You could do like PGMatt said
Personally, I would just wait longer.  That’s what I did with SouL who was gone several weeks longer than he anticipated, and now he is back and we are moving regularly and having a great time

Any time you want, though, you are entitled to claim the win.  Read the first post of this thread for rules, in rule #5
Longest allowed vacation per the rules is 21 days.  9 day delay after that = win by default, if you want
