Thanks to everyone for their input. Thanks to Boldfreah for making the hard decision. Should it be added to league rules that all combat diced are to be rolled by the attacker?
-
@Infrastructure:
Should it be added to league rules that all combat diced are to be rolled by the attacker?
No, people just need to have the good sense to not do it. Again, this is the first I’ve ever heard or encountered it - the vast majority of players don’t even THINK about doing it!
League rules are already long and don’t include a lot of things that are more important than that, IMO :-)
Oh, by the way, you didn’t seem to know who was in charge.
Commander Jennifer is doing the G40 league this year, and I’ve seen neither hide nor hair of her in weeks.
And no one has responded to the myriad of questions/comments/suggestions on this thread.I think we’re operating without anyone actively in charge, here… :|
-
Wendy!!! The lost boys neeeeeed you!
-
I nominate gamerman to adjudicate the g40 league.
-
I second that nomination. :)
I really think it should be a rule – whenever something like that happens, nip it in the bud. That being said, are we allowed to declare that only attacker rolls count in our pregame post and have it stand so that situations like the above can be avoided? If so, that solves the problem.
-
Absolutely, it would be a good idea to type up a standard pre-game post and copy/paste it each time you play a game. Is a good idea to communicate your expectations on certain things up front. I’ll have to work on that myself, soon
Biggest one for me, is the policy on doing things out of turn, especially with the USA/China/UK move. But there are other things, too. Best to just type up a standard policy to prevent disagreements in game…

I’m willing to go on record to oppose such a nomination. While I greatly respect and appreciate Gamerman’s efforts behind keeping an up-to-date unofficial rankings list, I don’t think his interactions with other forum members have been amicable enough to warrant elevation to a position of authority. This will probably come across as personal, but it isn’t, you only need to read through the flame war in the
Pointlessly BrokenPacific `40 thread to see one example of what I’m talking about. This discussion does bring up the fact that these boards are basically un-moderated and have been for some time, Jen is merely the last to disappear. I don’t think I’ve seen any posts from the others at all in 2013; only JWW seems to be left. I’ve tried to PM Jensen in the past to get somebody to step into threads that have been getting way out of hand, but haven’t had any response from him either.
-
Egg, they weren’t serious, jeez. That’s not how moderators are picked.
No, I am not nice enough to be a moderator. I do not always respond well to dicks
-
You omitted my work as rules deputy! :-o  :x

egg, what’s up bro? gamer never goes off on someone who doesn’t fully deserve it. :-P
i think gamer has more experience and more of an ability to be impartial and fair (and online regularly) than anyone else i am aware of on this site. i never suggested the “moderator” title, i suggested that he be the person asked to settle minor disputes - small claims court if you will. Jenn can still be the supreme commander. :-P

Yes, I wasn’t thinking that this was anything official. It sounded to me like people wanted to vote for themselves on an unofficial position.
The fact that the existing moderators are all AWOL is a somewhat different issue. And as an aside, civility usually involves treating people better than you think they deserve. Of course, you could also be saying to yourself
that guy really deserved to be slapped around, but I settled for being rude. It’s all relative. -
If we’re supposed to place bid units only in territories that already have a unit of the same power in it, then how come I hear that some people put an ANZAC infantry in New Guinea? Is it legal to do that?
after going over Jens rules, it looks like that is a legal move.

Who’s voting for themselves?
-
Who’s voting for themselves?
Nobody. I was trying to say that the members of the community were taking it upon themselves to have a vote.
-
hey, i got jobbed!!! a couple of guys wouldnt let me put an inf in new guinea.
