Guess your complaining worked out well for you as thats now three battles in a row where axis were absolutely ravaged. Now what do you put your odds at winning at.
Second round was a mistake borne out of frustration but they all would have died anyway.
-
There is no point in continuing.
I resign. Good game.
-
It is true that in the last three battles you were unlucky. But I want to be frank with you and say what I really think.
You built too many armors and planes. You attacked often only with armors; doing so casualties are costly from the beginning. It is advisable to have some infantries to be selected as first casualties.
Your tactic was hazardous throughout the war. You engaged battles too risky.
I list some of them. In Persia you should have not been able to place any unit there and risked planes by the AA. In Eastern Ukraina and Chinghiai round 4 was very risky too but partially worked out. Ukraine round 5 was very risky, and this time was not successful. Novosibirks and now East Poland were not sensible attacks at all: you put at stake you tanks and planes and even if dices had been good in the counter attack Russians would have slaughter your remaining tanks and probably get the bonus in Bulgaria as well.
Japan was a turn ahead Americans: you could have threaten Russia from Chinghiai an Persia gaining position round by round instead of attacking at all cost.
Tokio must not stop producing land troops to desembark in China or Russia, why the bombers?
I agree with the fact of defending France and Italy, but you destined too many units there. For sure Japan fighters were not necessary. Maybe I am saying this because I am more prudent when attacking. I consider for example that attacking Italy with Americans means to stop the train from Canada and riskying the fleet.
Last, you should have been able to hold Egypt at least one more round building more transports and threathening it with fighters sleeping in Europe.
It was a good war, but those were the things that gave me hopes of winning apart from good dices in the end. Anyway, I told you it was not a sensible attack in East Poland, but if you retreated after the first round of dices you could have been still in the game.
I made one little mistake in the game, I left the Russian army in Ukraine in round 2 hoping to hold it and to kill the German infantries with the English who were about to be slaughtered in Persia.
I’d like to know your idea about my considerations.
Thanks for the game -
1. Built too many armor and planes
Germany was making 45 or so a turn. The only way they could spend that was to buy more arm and planes which are certainly useful, particularly in Anniversary. Armor gives me added mobility, planes give great flexibilty and allow me to threaten sea zones. I could have built a factory in France which is the only intelligent choice with a KGF but I expected you to bomb me and expected you to deny my Germany east europe NO much quicker in which case the factory would have been a waste. Cant really walk infantry from Germany through poland as UK can crush them.2. Persia - You had 6 land units and a bomber in range. If I land in India you take it back with good odds and if not russians can clean it up or you can take TrJ and I dont have italian resources to get it back. I hit it risking a plane sure but banking on taking out a few units and then retreating the air to TrJ protecting TrJ and hopefully India. I would do that battle every time. If you had put a single russian inf there I wouldnt have done it but you didnt so I took advantage.
3. Ukr attack 3 arm, 3 ftr, and a bomber vs 3 inf 1 art. Fantastic odds, normal dice I lose 2 armor and then I get the NO and keep the russians back as they cant even threaten Bulg cuz armor cant reach and I can stack Poland instead. Worst case is I lose 3 armor but clear it. Instead you hit 4 for 4. Cant plan strat around that or good luck attacking anything. Dice happens whatever.
4. Nov attack. 7 arm 2 planes vs 7 inf. Again outstanding odds. If that battle goes remotely normal I stay one round take out 3 or 4 inf in exchange for 2 or 3 armor and then retreat into Chinghai and can stack Chinghai safely now that you dont have a huge supply of units able to counter with only limited backup on my part in china. Again I would do that battle everytime. Instead you hit 7 for 11 on 2’s and I way underhit. Also, I missed the Russian bomber buy and didnt think you could take out that transport, that left Egypt safe.
5. EPl attack. After the Nov attack my position looked terrible in Asia. I wasnt going to be able to advance again and Russia was going to start making their big NO and the allies were going to be able to continue to funnel units into Egypt. If I dont attack then Russia can take its NO for the rest of the game. Attacking and then retreating or winning at the cost of a few planes means you cant get your NO again and possibly not for several more turns giving Japanese time to come back. Again another attack that in the same situation I would make every time.
Knowing that you play so passively I probably could have played things a little differently but particularly since I was ahead I felt you needed to be more agressive and in your position I would have been.
Even mildly unlucky dice in those battles was fine with me. I wasnt planning on awesome results. But Those results were beyond bad luck. I massively underhit in everyone and you hit at a ridiculously high rate. I had probalby 99% odds in both the first two battles and 86 in the second and instead I ended up trading 19 arm 5 ftrs and 2 bombers for 11 infantry.
Dice happens but I have zero regrets about my play.
-
It was a tough match and you are a very strong opponent. It is nice to hear your opinion about it which is very interesting. I told you did not commit big mistakes, but in the whole war I did not understand some of your choices you now explained.
I see dices were awful in the end, but we are talking about tactics now.
I am saying that if they were average or a bit above, you would have not gained big advantage from those battles. On the contrary, a bad result was compromising.
A factory can be built in Bulgaria or Prague only if Germany is in a very good position, but Poland should have been controlled longer then you did using the troops you destined to France.
Besides, also Japan built too many armors and planes.
Instead of attacking Persia, I would have defended trj landing fighters there and attack Australia. Or you could have put 6 troops in India leaving the English to be slaughtered in the next round for good with a counter attack in case of success of the English (I would have not probably engaged battle because the bomber could have landed only in Persia and odds were not so good). If that battle goes remotely normal I stay one round take out 3 or 4 inf in exchange for 2 or 3 armor
You swap 3-4 infantry for 2-3 armors, not a big deal…
In East Poland, even if you were able to leave a couple of armors, you were about to be counter attacked and in Bulgaria (Urss big NO) you could have left only planes . Such a move can be done only as a last chance.
That transort should have been preserved at least with Italians fleet;
I did not mention that I saved maybe the match in Ukraine with that attack hit and run by Russians in round 3. Had it been unlucky, I would have lost Caucasus.
Where should I have been more aggressive?
Tell me one time you thought: “Fortunately he did not do this!”
