Got it, I didn’t see that I also had a FAQ, was thinking I only had the CLASSIFIED clarification
Now I see my specific question is answered, the carriers could not even split up during a combat move that ends in the same place

Kinda of a bummer not sinking that BB.
I usually retreat in sz53 if I get hit without hitting ; specially if I know I can have 4 fgt and 2CV in sz50 as a defense (that one can do when one do not buy trannies on J1).
That battle will have consequence if I go for sz50 and succeed. Otherwise, well, you lost one of your G1/J1 battle, that usuallt happens. You got hit quite heavily in Asia too, but did not loose any fighter except on this BB on an other hand.
This is for sure not a lucky start, but I wonder if this is the kind of average start you’re suppose to be able to play with when taking the axis. Not sure at all, but this is somehow why I believe that the Allies have a shot with a not too high bid : because they’re suppose to get one break in average in the axis opening, and that an important point is to know how to use this break (which is not easy, since that will change in almost every game).
Anyway, just some thoughts, hopefully no offense taken about a dice discussion in a middle of a game, that’s not intended.

No, I appreciate the advice. It has been a loooong time since I’ve been hit hard at Pearl. If the US “gets me” it usually some combination at Phil or the pesky DD/trn.

That’s actually a really good idea. Although do you mean Sz 51 (Car Is sz)? I think 50 is the Phil sz and I don’t think the ACs can reach. But I’m not looking at the map. Although I think I would have moved at least 1 AC there if they could reach.
The round two rolls were more “I was mad rolls”, I got tons of hits killing the uk/us dds and trns and completely whiffed on the BB. Frustrating.

I wasn’t sure what to do, almost blocked with the AC. I guess if I was thinking I could have done the move you suggest or even (if you get no hits like I did), lose 1 ftr and retreat dd to block. Just didn’t consider losing that battle. I was so frustrated I didn’t really care about Sz 50 if you attack, especially after getting thinned out pretty good in Asia too. I kinda figured, I might need some dice to help me out with J now, so if you wanted to attack maybe I get payback and if I lose it would probably be a short game. lol!

Its true about the Allies, they “should” get a break and it is probably what was intended in the initial lay out, but one counter might be the Axis can go somewhat conservative and still be in good shape. Germany can almost always work out the numbers for Bst/Epl/Ukr so I guess their biggest risks would be in Sz 2 or sz 12 where there is only so much G can bring. For Japan you can probably leave the US dd/trn and go heavy to Pearl for a conservative move. Phil will always be potentially dicey, but most battles in Asia you can work through the risks. Even retreating from Yun and leaving the ftr isn’t that bad. I’ve lost in Kwa before and that kinda hurts but I bring in the ftr now to make sure I’m rolling two 3’s.
With this little set back, I’m wondering if the better play is to infact go conservative and hit Pearl with the dd and 4 ftrs assuming no bid to UK or the Pac and just leave the US dd/trn.???
I’ll have to think about that more.
Although do you mean Sz 51 (Car Is sz)?
Yes, was commenting without looking the map. I meant sz51, sorry.

I go for both. But I recently changed my J1 to give me more flexibility. I now let the chinese fighter alive, but hit kwantung, burma and philippines (and a couple of chinese territories). This gives me one fighter free to hit sz50 together with the BB (the CA is sent towards sz37 for bombardment - also usefull against a SS bid), that can go to sz51 if I get diced in both sz56 and sz53.
You can have a look at one of my last games if you want to see more details on what became my J1. The main point is to keep as many options as possible according to dice results.
But all of that also depend on the bid and my mood :)

FYI, I will be out of internet this week end, and quite busy until tomorrow. As I need to make some decisions in this game, I might not play before monday, or maybe wednesday (moving on tuesday for my work).
Currently, my game against Soul has the priority because of the close league deadline (worst case, I guess I can just take a free loss to reach the 8 games limit anyway, but I’d prefer to finish this one in time).
No problem.
ok… let see what sz50 will do. More to win than to loose there to my mind.

I lucked out there. J would have been set back pretty far losing those two trns.
Turns out to be an interesting trade overall, considering in most game the US BB dies, so it was J cruiser for US bomber. Both 12 ipcs, but its always nice to see those Allied bombers go down.
