Our gaming group has come to the conclusion that some bid is needed to balance the game for the Allies. In reading through the posts it seems to me that the general consensus is that the Allies need a bid of about 9-12.
My questions are:
Is a bid of 9-12 the current and reasonable amount? As we will not want to bid for a particular side, we will set a certain bid point for each game and then let people choose which side they want to be as some Players enjoy playing particular Powers. So what is a fair bid?My group usually goes 10-15, some where in the ball park of 8 to 14 is what everyone does.
Is this bid added as starting income to be spent on Turn 1?What Siparo said.
Is this bid added as units and money such as the Revised FIDA bid?Never played revised, and what is FIDA? Another government agency?
Is this bid added as units on the board with remainders as starting money?Siparo doesn’t do it, but my group allows it.
For any units placed on the board are there any restrictions? For example:
a) Must have a unit already in the territory / sea zone?
b) May not place more than X number of units? My group has 3 rules:
1. Must be one unit per territory/seazone.
2. Can only be placed in a territory/seazone where you already have units occupying it.
3. Can only be a unit that power has access to (china can be inf and art only).I would appreciate your kind thoughts and comments. Thank you…

Note that scrambled air units must return to their original territory unless it was captured by the enemy.
Also, fighter interceptors for bombing raids whose original territory was captured by the enemy may move one space to land.

Mongolia only turns Russian if Japan attacks a SOVIET-CONTROLLED territory bordering Mongolia, so no.

Question about placing Industrial Complexes:
Can UK place a minor complex in Persia (2 income pro ally territory) the same turn that it took it? Or only the next turn?
Thanks

You must have controlled the territory at the start of your turn to place a facility there, so UK must wait until the following turn after activating Persia to build a complex there.

anzac 1 - infantry, aa gun offloads onto java in noncom - tripleA allows it, but is this allowed?
-
to clarify, there was no J1 dow.
-
Yes, that is allowed

Yes.
It’s a friendly territory -
…however it will not claim the territory.

Yes, that is allowed
Could a lone aa offload to an orange java?
you just would not claim the territory(and income). Would still be Dutch.

If the USSR while at peace with Japan moves into Korea when occupied by the USA who is at war with Japan, what happens if Japan attacks Korea?
-
If the USSR is at peace with Japan, then they couldn’t have moved into allied occupied Korea in the first place, as they were not yet part of the allies on the Pacific half of the board.
-
Right, USSR would have to declare war on Japan to move into USA controlled Korea.
If this is the case, and Japan attacks USA controlled Korea with USSR units in it, nothing happens with the pact or Mongolia.
The Mongolians only join Russia if Japan attacks a USSR controlled territory bordering Mongolia. The Mongolia, Neutral, and Dutch questions just keep pouring in. I made a thread trying to lay out these rules in a different way, in an attempt to make them more understandable. You can read them here. Maybe I should ask a Mod to sticky this thread. Go to the first couple posts of this thread. I believe the correct answers to both Boldfresh and Karl’s questions can be found in them.

Talk about your double standards! Italy can attack Russia with impunity while Germany reinforces without being at war with Russia, but Russia cannot reinforce the United States without going to war with Japan. :P (On Japanese soil that is.)

There is simply zero reason why USSR should’nt declear war on Japan turn 1 :-)
