man, what a crazy game
the big thing i’m watching for, is: can france, spain, and sweden actually do anything to take advantage of their current situation, before they lose either the income game, or lose the turkish capital (and the income game with it)
carolingians are already down about 20 production compared with the coalition (after you factor in the negative modifiers on spain, france, and uk)
and while that is not much right now, it will eventually add up, especially considering that i think that gap will grow not shrink….
still, i’m not going to rule out for even a second that the carolingians won’t be able to figure out turn the tables, or at least even up the game…
i also really think that no matter what, you two guys should have a rematch (just for fun of course)!
It’s interesting to see that certain nations look really bad, but it’s better than the first impression.
Example France:
They are horribly down in their homecountry, but still have an advantage over England in income. The reason is the sea, which they rule.
And because of that high income they are bound to their capital only for a limited time. The building slots of Paris are really extreme and are hard to beat.

Now that France controls England’s main shipbuilding port, I can shift to building only ground units for a while. With England unable to reinforce their troops in France and Sweden tying up the Prussian reinforcements, that leaves only Austria able to maintain pressure on France.
The income disparity is offset a bit by the fact that in order for Austria to keep getting enough units to the front lines fast enough to hold back the French, he has to build, at least some, cavalry which are slightly more expensive than the cheap infantry and guns that France can afford to mass produce. That’s where the sheer number of units France can build puts the Austrians at a disadvantage because France can match Austria in unit quality but Austria can’t match France in quantity. The siege of Paris will eventually be broken. The only questions are when and can I do it fast enough to prevent me from losing the game.
Of course I am always giving another chance to a fair opponent :-) Btw - U-505 is con against the proposal not to mix experienced and unexperienced players.
I know that you are getting tired of playing the English so we can switch sides if you’d like.
And to be fair, you can’t really say I’m inexperienced. I’d say I’m in between experienced and inexperienced. My time playing Axis and Allies has really helped me with my adjustment to this game. The only thing that I was truly unfamiliar with was the map.

Generally I think there is a good but so far no decisive advantage for the Coalition. Sweden wont neutralize Prussia, though it will keep it busy to some degree. Spain is in trouble and that will also keep France busy in the South. Of course a lot will depend on when Istanbul will finally fall.
And I play any side on this map. I only find no player who wants to play England. You can still choose your side.
Next time I can make a move will probably be Sunday. So take your time. Though I am really curious what you will do with Spain …

Yes, very complicated. I’m beginning to hate the Russian cavalry.
They are great! And they just want to go a bit swimming in the Med.
They are too far away to make it worth building anything else. But it really gives you much flexibility.
And in such a situation one should move carefully … and not forget to move the biggest part of the British navy … :cry:
