    Very astute.  The Lurch.  I wasn’t really thinking about it, but yes, it fits.  I didn’t think a tank dash would work once I bought the IC for Fra.  I figured maxing out the G purchases was the best option and then wait for the superior Inf numbers.  We’ll see now if it’s going pay off.  I don’t like that it appears you are going to defend Kar.  :|  Was hoping for an easy 2 ipc + NO.  Might have to adjust.  I didn’t expect the IC for Ind when we started and Japan is really getting shut down.  Well played.

    I’d love your opinion on J after the game.  I think that’s probably the weakest part of my game.  That is Japan in rds 1-2 (after they have been hit hard).  I typically try to max out navy (at least matching the US) and then “get back to Asia” but the IC in Ind was problematic and a real nice play.  The Rus ftr to Phil was a nice early wrinkle.  I wanted to leave Phil for J2, but again that ftr caused some problems there as well.

    Really a fun game.

    Sometimes I can be, other times as sharp as a bowling ball.

    I think the key to jpn is to start conservatively and to assume the worst. Assume the USA is coming full bore. Assume your dd & 2 fgt’s aren’t taking down the usa BB. I rarely attack both z56 & 53.

    I typically buy two dd to start. The only immediate help they give me as jpn is peace of mind.  :wink: But I tend to be conservative.

    I can’t take credit for the R fgt bid. It was done to me by LuckyLindy I think but my wrinkle was landing it in PHI. The fgt turns the 10 bid to 17 as you auto kill the trn. & PHI is tough enough w/3 inf & arm or 2inf, art & arm vs two inf. Drop a fgt in there and Jpn might not take it. If they don’t take it the 17 bid turns into 31 bid!

    Yeah, I usually buy at least 1 DD with Japan on J1.  But of course in this game I didn’t, but that had a lot to do with the auto kill of the J trn.

    I still think I’d prefer to see The Allies spend 10 on a ftr but another game or 2 of seeing J contained might change my mind.  That said Yoshi had success on me with the UK sub bid and so did Soul (sub bid as well) in the tourney.  I was able to beat SouL but I had a flawless G1 that game and hit some tough dice with J on J1 or 2.

    I like the conservative Japan approach, but I think I just need to play some more games as Japan in these scenerios to get the best feel for the appropriate J counters.
