• Nice. Except I prefer: Axis and Alcohol. Every Edition.
We have had a quiet night, with no late tables and was just thinking I was going to have a small glass of white.
No A&A though, Al has a cup cake decorating class tomorrow, so leaves the house early.
    Maybe next weekend.

  • If you don’t drink and smoke you have no problems that can effect your health from them. So just don’t do it.

  • Have never smoked, but smoking was only banned in public places 6 years ago and I have worked in a restaurant, then gone out after work since I was 22.
    Am probably fucked!

  • @wittmann:

I prefer: Axis and Alcohol. Every Edition.

Gargantua suggested Alcohol & Allies, and Wittmann suggested Axis & Alcohol.  A more extreme suggestion would be Alcohol & Alcohol, which is the point at which one should probably start worrying.

Along the lines of the self-test Garg mentioned, I one read about a similar one which involves imagining that, starting at midnight, the entire world supply of alcohol will have evaporated.  According to this test, the abstainer would shrug, the non-problem drinker would say “Damn!”, and the problem drinker would say “How am I going to get through tomorrow?”

  • Hi Marc. I would stop if I was told I had to.
Have too much to live for and being an Italian and a man, I fear death.
My grandad was, and dad is, awful like that.
Axis and Allies can sound good!

Do the Italians fear the french too?

LOL, great post Marc.  I would definetly say HOW AM I GOING TO GET THROUGH TOMORROW, if all the world’s coffee evapourated at midnight. :P

  • No, Garg. No one fears the French any more; not now Napoleon is dead.
It is the Spanish who beat us at football now.

  • It can ruin you life, I’ve seen it happen, I’ve lost friends because of it, I’ve spent a fortune on it when I was a drinker (power-house). I’ve been sober for 19 years now and I look back and say why did I do it? Peer presure, the need, it ran my life. Besides loss of good judgement it can cause one to try other things.
Nites I cant remember with friends I’ll never forget,….had some good times.

  • I’m pretty sure I bought Yuengling a new brewery while I was the Outer Banks this past week.  For some reason, I can go hard for a while but know before I’m getting to blackout state to stop and go to bed.  I may not remember every little thing that was said, but I am pretty coherent and aware.

I drink almost everyday, but that may be a beer or two, and never a case or anything like that.  I used to be able to make a 6 pack last for 2-3 days.  I could kill a 12 pack no problem a night, but I keep myself from doing.  The only thing with the frequency of drinking is that it makes me want to smoke, and I’ve relapsed too many times (and hang out with too many smokers).

But alcohol is good for you moderately.  Especially homebrew, which I make and hope to get in the industry soon.

Awesome. I don’t make nearly enough time to brew. I keep promising myself a brewing friendly remodel of the house. Good luck in the job search. Do you have formal training like the UC Davis program?

I used to know a guy who measured the distance between places, by how many beer it took to get there.

IE, It was two beer in the morning to get from home to work, two beer on the way back, and 3 beer if he had to stop at the liquor store along the way…

He also couldn’t work whilst sober.

  • Sounds like our old Member of Parliament.

There’s a funny scene in the John Wayne movie “The Fighting Seabees” in which Wayne (who plays a construction company boss) is having a discussion with one of his foremen about denying his construction gang access to alcohol during a job they’ll be doing for the Navy on some remote Pacific island.  The foreman, referring to a particular worker who is depicted in the script as a whisky-loving Irishman, protests to Wayne, “You wouldn’t want a man to work in an unnatural condition, do you?”

  • Do you think John Wayne (love his films) stipulated he would only take a job if there was a part for a drunken irishman?
Seem to figure in a lot of his films.
Or is it Hollywood addressing my same question years before I posed it here?

    I saw this quote somewhere;

“A man should rise from the table niether thirsty nor drunken.”

I usually rise from the table drunken.

Recently, a pub/bar was denied it’s liquor license in a neighbourhood not far from mine, because it didn’t have enough “parking” available.

    lol…

Consider this along with the fact that 1 drink is enough to put you over the legal limit in British Columbia.

  • That is excellent. Surely the bar won the appeal.

No, I don’t, but I’ve thought about looking into something.  I mainly just self teach with my buddy.

We took home a gold medal in a home brew competition recently.  Lemon Honey Green Tea IPA, developed the recipe ourselves.  It was the only beer we submitted while others dropped in 30-40, with a total of over 1000 in 30 categories.  We took the broadest category (specialty), which was everything that couldn’t be categorized elsewhere.

    In all seriousness,

I happen to have the worlds most effective beer marketing strategy all planned out, that could be run at ultra minimal cost, and is garunteed to be a massive hit. :)

It will change the culture of beer… I just need a beer that tastes good, and one that is ready for larger scale production.

    I don’t suppose that’s you Jermofoot?

You guys all already know me for my flash and bang… what if I told you we could use those powers for -good-? :D

I know I can get the average customer to take the beer off the shelf based off my strategy the first time they see it.  And we’ll be in business if they come back to get the beer off the shelf the second time, because it tasted so damn good.

    Is the answer “boobie-pictures” ? :D

    (i’d buy some)
