so are the french units really the same old soviet pieces? i know the box says they are, but the back of the box is really funky with the British having 2 different mechs and Italians seeming to have 2 different tacs.

I think the lesson we all really need to take away with us is basically to not trust the photo images on the back of the boxes.  :-)

It might be a Universal Carrier, a 4-man armoured personnel carrier which (like the Bren Gun Carrier) was derived from what was originally a 1920s tankette whose name I forget.
