I can’t quite make out the board. Would you take 2 pictures, each one half of the board, so I can get a better view?
Did your group okay getting outside advice for an active game? If not, then I cannot help you as that would be unethical.
That new sub looks like a destroyer!
And candlewax blobs are now bren gun carriers? :S
The Carrier looks a bit different…
Oh well, I am grateful for NEW moulds…
By comparing the the photo of the back of the 1st edition box I discovered that it is a Photoshoped version of the original. Three areas are noticeably different. The national production chart is now on the map near the top, and the components on the sides of the boards have been edited over to show the new pieces. Actually the combat strip on the lower right looks to be AA41.1
We should also remember that the back of the box is always a prototype image and cant be taken too literal. Thats typical for lots of boardgames.
AAE40.1
AAE40.2
Mickelson! You missed the Mech infantry they added in West Africa! I wonder if they added any of the other new units into the pic?
Looks like an italian navy gets swapped for german/french units in the med. And then the Italians get another sub in the Indian ocean… hmm…
what the hell is the brits mech inf??? I already saw brens in museum and I can tell you this is not one
i have to say if that’s a bren gun carrier it’s f’in’ ugly

Yup, it’s not a Bren. From the looks of it I’d say it’s a Kangaroo - during the UK the British converted unnecessary tanks as armored personnel carriers - if you check the wheels they look close to the US Sherman or the Canadian Ram.

I was thinking the samething about 2 mins. after I wrote my comment, I was just about to edit mine.
LOL its a priest tank destroyer converted into a Kangaroo armoured personnel carrier. You can tell by the lump on its right side (toward the top in the pic). LAAAAAME

Quite ugly. Im glad I still have my 1st edition so I can use the respectable looking mech from that set.
Bob, why are you using the globe “I” invented as your avatar?

…courtesy of VanGal. His original files are too large to post directly, so I started by posting a few quickly-reduced versions because I wanted to get them out as quickly as possible. I’ll follow them up with some larger-scale close-ups of picture sections, either tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on how rapidly the re-sizing work goes. Many thanks to VanGal for providing this valuable material!
Thanks both of you.
so are the french units really the same old soviet pieces? i know the box says they are, but the back of the box is really funky with the British having 2 different mechs and Italians seeming to have 2 different tacs.
I think the lesson we all really need to take away with us is basically to not trust the photo images on the back of the boxes. :-)

yeah it’s almost like the box images are designed to treat us into buying the game.

It’s a conspiracy, I tell you all…

It might be a Universal Carrier, a 4-man armoured personnel carrier which (like the Bren Gun Carrier) was derived from what was originally a 1920s tankette whose name I forget.
Have we seen any French Units yet?
