I think the world would be a much better place if people chose to be more agreeable and reasonable in general…

As oppossed to literally fighting over absoultely everything.

You are so wrong about that!

Not the best Batman movie in my opinion. However it makes a number of nods to the comics that inspired it. Knightfall. No Mans Land. The Dark Knigt Returns. Year One. Even the old 60’s TV show.

To my mind the best line was when Bane’s kicking his ass and says: Victory has defeated you!
Awesome. Many plot holes but over all a pretty close representation of what Batman should be.

  • Remember we are only 12 particles of matter and four forces of nature, which is a wonderfully and significant story, which we have to stop somewhere and leave you something to imagine…  :-D

  • @Cmdr:

That goes for you too, Linkon.  I know there are some people who want to portray the latest Batman movie to real life, but we cannot discuss such things on these forums

    Jennifer,
There was nothing about the elections were in that post.

I posted to spotlight a cultural perception / paradigm shift from the last 50 years of movies.

I think the point of not allowing politics is not allowing conversations which at their base elements require someone to defend core value systems that are at the center of a person’s psyche. I do believe religion comes into play there. We had multiple religious discussions (more between monotheists/atheists) under the political boards, I remember being involved in those debates, just as heated as the political discussions. And c’mon everyone’s religion (deeply held value systems), whether theist or atheist, drives what they believe should happen in politics, so invariably, talking about religion brings politics into the discussion. There is a line you cross.

I think the problem here is this was about a movie and not about a tragic shooting surrounding that movie. Let’s keep it to the movie.

I think a lot of people miss out on the real point of the movie…it isn’t about the badies, it isn’t about occupy, it isn’t about revenge…while I disliked the directing of this movie and the writing could have been a hell of a lot better, this is a story about the human condition and doing and standing up for the right thing, no matter the cost…the movie wasn’t a political statement… it was that even in humanity’s darkest hour, the are individuals willing to stand up regardless of the odds, and if there were more people like them, wouldn’t the entire world be a better place?

My big beef about the movie is that batman was supposed to be KILLED by Bane!  Dang it, do it right, or just dont do it at all!

Why was Batman supposed to be killed by Bane? that never happened in the comics he merely broke his back which happened.  The promo’s said a legend will end not that Batman will die and at the end of the movie it was clear Bruce wayne is done as batman he moved on with his life.

Bruce Wayne, what a self centred loser and a coward.

The people of Gotham needed him, and he F’d-off.

Then whilst they suffer BECAUSE of him, he’s off living in some arabian paradise, until the final hour.  THEN the cops show up and save the day.

After faking his own death (A liar too!) he runs off with his hoochie criminal girlfriend.  Pfftp.

I’ve always been under the understanding that he died shortly after his back was broken, and then Robin became Nightwing…I dont actually have the comic right in front of me, but I know a geek who has the whole collection - or claims too anyway, I’ll ask him.

As a nerd who grew up reading the knightfall storyline I can tell you 100 percent what happened,

Bane breaks Batmans back he snubs nightwing (original robin) in favor of Azrael to become the next batman.  Azrael starts becoming crazy beats Bane easily, gets rid of robin and kills a criminal.  Bruce with his back cured is outraged that Azrael would kill as batman so he undergoes training from lady shiva a martial arts expert then proceeds to confront Azrael to take back the mantle of batman  and wins.

  • This is what happened long story short.

    Bane breaks Batmans back
Bruce wayne names Azrael as the successor to be Batman
Azrael beats Bane and goes crazy
Bruce’s back heals and he trains to fight Azrael and take it back and wins

  • Liaison TripleA 11 10

Welll Batman does break his back…

This is the Bane storyline. Grayson is Batman while Bruce trains though. But Bane does not ever kill Batman. The first part available in collected form Knightfall Collection.

Jen is semi-correct though that in the Final Crisis storyline Batman dies (actually he is sent back in time) and Grayson again becomes Batman.

Grayson does not become batman in Knightfall/Knightquest/Knightsend Azrael was Batman in each of those AFTER Bruce takes back being batman Grayson becomes batman in PRODIGAL for  a short while.

And your right about final crisis but it has no bearing on Knightfall or the batman movie.
