Well - I am winging it in the Pacific at this point

I wasn’t going to attack the US this turn, but felt I needed to hit the Brits - I hit them in Europe and I want to hit them here too….

Well Mike, I have some BAD news for you.

America is going for broke on your Capital in Japan.

I am attacking Sz6 with

1 battleship
1 aircraft carrier
2 cruisers
2 destroyers
1 sub
1 fighter
1 tactical bomber
1 aircraft carrier

And two loaded transports

You have 6 kamikazes (Which are free kills) at 2.  And 1 sub 2 destroyers defending.

The Kamikazes can’t target the sub, the planes, or the transports… so you’ve got to make your selections.

Your best bet, is probably to spread your targets… and put extra effort on the destroyers if you have it…

2 on destroyers
2 on cruisers
2 on battleship?

If you get BOTH the Destroyers, then my planes can’t hit your sub, and it has a chance of surviving, blocking the attack.

Of course… I have a sub of my own, and an Aircraft carrier to soak hits…

with the spread including the battleship, if you roll 100% hits. We will be left with 1 acc 1 fgt 1 tac 1 sub, attacking 2 dst 1 sub.

Your only hope would then be to roll 100% hits on your defense as well.  Then it’s possible, that if I don’t hit with the sub, that you could survive for another round, and we could get down to sub on sub.

Also, I’m waiting on a ruling to see if I’m allowed to land American planes in Soviet russia.  Of course, if I am, I would bring in a bomber and extra planes.  But I’m pretty confident this is going to work out for America…

Well - I yield the game to you then - to be honest, it was a mistake on my part in that I did not realize that the US could declare war on Japan after I attacked the UK. I thought the US could only declare war at the end of turn 3 - again - my not knowning the rules there. I would have placed some men in japan - or taken them from the mainland via transport and left some on Japan.

But live and learn…we can play again sometime if you’d like

No thanks - no need. Even if I were to somehow be ‘successful’ in that regard, that certainly doesn’t mean anything.

Of course, if you are interested in continuing the game - I can change my purchase from the 2 subs, dd to be something more defensive - but that is up to you - I understand either way. I won’t make this mistake in my next game I suppose :)
