    Mababa just left my place, and we discussed this. He’s in a hurry, and asked me to respond.

    First, sending planes to the Japan sea zone is not a legal move. The fighter and tactical bomber need to move four spaces to get to that sea zone. Even with the Hawaii airbase, that still leaves them with just one movement point after the battle is over. They cannot make it to a legal landing spot with that last movement point.

    In answer to your question about sz 6, Japan would not like to kamikaze it.

    For the OOL in sz 42, it’s the following:

    1. injure battleships
    2. sub
    3. destroyers
    4. cruisers
    5. lose one fighter
    6. injure carrier
    7. loser the other fighter
    8. finish off carrier
    9 finish off the battleships

    However, if the U.S. incurs an injury to its carrier, then “injure carrier” moves from #6 on the above list to #2.


  • I can get a carrier to sz7 to pick up the air hitting sz6. Let me know if this changes your decision to kamikaze and then I’ll start rolling. I prefer to move stuff that I don’t have to in the noncom phase, even if it’s extremely unlikely I’ll lose both planes. I’ve been burned before by moving stuff with the assumption on how a battle would go.


  • Also, attacker rolls first so you won’t know what the defender’s casualties are before having to make your own selection. I won’t be able to tell you if my cv took a hit or not as I won’t know what I’ll end up picking until I see your defensive fire. I do have a general idea of what I want though, but I’m not tipping my hand just yet.  :wink:

    I’d be happy to roll it round by round and I’ll probably end up doing so anyway. Just trying to get a sense of your ool to get into the next round before having to post a map if possible.

    You are right about the carrier. Sorry about that–didn’t get much sleep last night.

    No kamikazes in the Japan sea battle.

    As for the OOL, if the U.S. takes a hit to its carrier in combat round X, Japan intends to take a hit to its own carrier in combat round X + 1.

    Thanks for the double tap. Japan has decided to revert to the following OOL:

    1. injure battleships

    Which means take the hits on the dd, 2 CA, and fighter.
