    if we were to play a 100 games with this opening, we could find out whether germany can afford to lose those aircraft more than uk can afford to lose those fighters

    however, we are only playing 1 game, so it just kind of feels like you trying the “luck out strategy” since you can’t beat us with your own head
    (ie: if you win those battles, it is not really of your own doing but you get to have the advantage anyway, while if you lose the battles you can just blame dice)

    For the most part I don’t blame dice, and for the record in this game, I won’t.

    There is a specific angle to my strategy that you’re not seeing (Wow do I have to spell it out for you?). That’s all that’s going on.

    I find ironic and insulting Veq, that you would say that I’m not trying to “beat you with my own head”.  Instead of using -standard- openers, developed by EVERYONE.  I create my own unique opening to try some different approaches, and I get accussed BEFORE ANY DICE ARE ROLLED, that I’m trying to create a situation which I can blame loss on chance alone.

    That’s pathetic. and I demand you retract your comments! :P

    Luck is a portion of my game that I always count on, Look at any of my tournament games. Some people don’t understand her, but she makes sense to me, and she’s always along for the ride - good or bad.

    We like to fight battles that others would call insane, and more often then not we prevail.

    I also fundamentally look at units entirely differently in terms of value than most people do.  Like the knight and bishop in chess, which is more valueable?

    An American Battleship is not worth the same as a Japanese one, or a british one, or an italian one.  The value of a unit is not it’s IPC cost. It’s the units capabilities, postion, turn order, available support coordination, and possibilities.

    You’re also looking at the game from the perspective that a 50% battle is a bad thing.
    (As cow would moo - that’s 100% of the time, 50% of the time!)

    And that all battles must be fought to a close. (It just isn’t so!)

    He’s realized the respective value of his British fighters, based on the displacement of my troops.  Impressive.

    Garg you are taking Veqryn wayyy too literal. He is not the coin flipping type. Neither am I, but if you want to gamble, I’ll gamble with you with what I can. That is just how it goes.

    Veqryn criticizes it, because it is a gambler’s opener. Yes lots of coin flipping. Jokes don’t translate well over the web sometimes.

    I don’t have any problems with it, until I lose both my destroyer + transport and my cruiser G1. I hate playing aa50 1942, because I could lose 3 transports on G1 (sub vs cruiser and sub vs dd), some games I have +30 ipc more stuff and other games I won’t, that’s 1 buy from uk right there.

    Oh forgot, french dd and cruiser. lose DD first then cruiser (I’ll chance italy’s sub).

    It is fair to note that germany’s odds in 110 if I did scramble is actually slightly more than 50% despite it saying a flat 50%.

    In scenarios the defender and attacks roll low hits, say 3 hits, germany would lose sub fighter and tactical. The built in calculator assumes you lose lowest cost unit first. EG. sub 2x fighter. So in those scenarios you would have a 4 roll instead of a 3.

    Real odds are closer to 51%. Plus the draw outcome is not so bad for germany either. So UK’s scramble would be a good move less than 50% of the time.

    It just opens germany up for fighter losses that is all. Tanks are better than fighters when attacking russia’s capital anyway (they don’t die to aa guns). He gets the possibility of a cruiser kill off gibraltar reducing uk’s R1 attack potential on sz 97 (while maintaining 2 unit attackers for the destroyer and transport italy has by malta)

    Also the french naval cleared allows italy to get away with other attacks.

    It is what it is. I can’t do anything about it, but wait till the dice come in.

    Another drawback is, sea lion becomes less threatening should germany get the short straw.

    It sucks when you lose a couple air units in sz 110, retreat a tactical to a cruiser, and cruiser off gib is still standing or the dd + tran off canada. Sub wins it crosses canal into the med without owning gibraltar you know.

    Victories, allow for stronger medit play.

    It is a good move if you have a 3 man multiplayer squad. You don’t want a guy to play italy and get shut down off the bat like in some games.

    So far BAD for germany lol…

    Lost both sub one on ones in first round :( and no hits in Sz93, lost a tac.  (Made an error and selected fgt, will have to select tac in edit)

    Now for Sz110 and Sz111!
