    I think we’re done here D. Russia is outproducing Germany, at the very least it’s a stalemate in the Pacific, and it doesn’t look like you’ll be dislodging Russia from East Poland for a couple turns.

    With all due respect, I really believe that you give up on games too easily.  I mean, we have come this far after we said that after the G1 dicing.  Those parameters are not necessarily what the game is centered around currently.  We shall see….

    All I can say is that it appears to me that there is a lot of play left in the position.

    As far as I’m concerned, we’re just getting started.  My entire Axis play after G1 was for a long-term positional game.  5½ rounds isn’t long-term imho….

    Okay, so TripleA won’t let me place a factory upgrade on Kiangsu.  Is that a flaw in the programming, or is there something I need to know?  :)

    Japan may start the game owning it, but Kiangsu is a captured Chinese territory so you can’t upgrade a factory there. Korea is the only territory where Japan can own a major factory on mainland Asia.

    And, for the record, it’s just a dead click when I try to click Kiangsu – it doesn’t say I “can’t”, like clicking on all the other territories…

    I mean, that seems like something that should be clear, doesn’t it?  My whole strategy is altered by that now…

    I don’t know what to tell you. It’s considered a captured Chinese territory. Not that they would want to, but I’m not even sure if germany can build a major factory in Poland. The only thing i can think of is that any territory that Chinese units can occupy(sans Kwangtung) is considered captured.

    I believe it was. it was considered Japanese territory prior to the 1936 start of their war with China which is much earlier that 1939 official start of WWII.

    I believe it was clarified in the Alpha rule modifications. I only have the Europe rulebook and the link to the Alpha +3 rule changes to Global.

    It is also considered a captured Chinese territory. In Global, China can occupy Manchuria and when it is retaken it becomes Chinese.

    Okay, that last part has me stunned.  This is simply crazy.  Never in my life have I had to look so many places for a rule here and a rule there….

    I see nothing noting that about Manchuria in the AA 1940 Pacific rules nor the end of the AA 1940 Europe rules (which have Global included).

    So, basically there are almost never Major factories built?  I mean, other than Korea (not Manchuria mind you, but Korea)?

    I cannot see any rule that allows China to enter Manchuria.  Ugh…

    Italy can upgrade their Northern Italy one, UK Pacific can put one in Kwang, and Germany has quite a few territories to put one in all of which would be foolish with the possible exception of Romania and even that is iffy.

    I’ve played long enough to know when a game is virtually hopeless. I’m sure it comes with great joy to pull out a game where you’re 1 second away from a 10 count, but, for me, it isn’t worth having to go through the other 99 games where I am slowly and painfully ground into dust. If I’m beat and I know it, I’m not going to make my opponent earn every inch of ground he or she already rightfully deserves.

    That being said. I’ll admit that I am curious. So here you go. Let’s see what happens. Finish editing your turn.

    I understand what you are saying.  At the same time, perhaps my experience is a bit different as I started playing tournament chess about 30 years ago.  When I retired as a life master (U.S., not FIDE), I learned a few things (or few hundred lol).  One, I will forever remember all of the rants and raves about this position or that being a losing position.  Well, not necessarily was the position lost.  Difficult to defend?  Perhaps.  But, then a high level player could sit down and easily defend the position that looked “lost”.

    There is a difference between having an advantage, and having a WINNING advantage.  Learning how to defend is how I became a master.  I could attack with the very best of the best, but then when the attack went south or it was a position when I never had the attack, well, then I would fold in earlier days.  But when I learned how to defend, to tenaciously defend and put difficult questions to my opponents who had the advantage, then and only then did I actually achieve my best level of play.

    So, I do understand what you are saying when you say that you are not going to make your opponent earn every inch of ground he or she already rightfully deserves.  Then again, “deserves” is a bit of a charged term.  If your opponent “deserves” to earn the win, then he/she should graciously play on.  This game is SO FULL of undiscovered possibilities!

    Let’s just put it in perspective… chess consists of 64 squares and 32 pieces.  Now, if there are so many possibilities to defend there, then think about THIS game which has more squares, more pieces, and DICE.  :)

    I believe that you have an advantage.  I also believe that the German capital is under NO immediate threat, the Italian capital even less so, and then there is Japan.  I would think it appropriate to at least continue play as Axis until one of my capitals falls.  The rules say all three, and I know that is overkill (unless some weird VC thing is happening).

    I’ll post here what I’ll edit the 20 IPC’s to before too long (have a few work emails to attend to) and we can go from there.  Oh, and as a final note, I have no idea who really has the advantages in this game quite yet, which is why you are graciously playing me this series.  So, you could be completely correct in your assessment – once again, no disrespect is meant whatsoever, my friend.  :)

    Btw, I added a minor IC to Manchuria, and an inf and aa gun to Japan for the 20.  Not ideal (I would have done it differently had I known lol), but if that works for you it does for me.
