International Aid for Birth Control

  • When was America anywhere close to speaking German?

  • I am typing in English… well i try… Because most people here are English, and anyway English is the dominating language now. Because of English and American imperialism. But don,t fool yourself, i don’t work with english, and in my science i rarely read text in english…

So what ? I never said America was not the dominant power.

  • I have a question: is there such things as German or French language keyboards? Or are they all typesetted in American? I know in Asia they have “Chinese” and “Japanese” language keyboards and the like, so I was wondering if that was true there.

English is the dominating language now.

It is? last time I heard “American” was 3th or 4th on list. We I’m sure many more have American as a second language.

Anyways, I see population control as a must in the near future if birth rates do not decline. How to implement it will be the hard part. If need be, we might have to follow the Chinese.

  • English is the dominating language in business. Americans tend to forget money isnt everything.

  • Americans tend to forget money isnt everything.

Who’s to blame them? They grow up it a capitalistic society. Would you expect it to be any different?

  • @Yanny:

What is the connection between English being the dominant language and American forgetting that money isn’t everything?

    Tssstsstsss….

    ÄÖÜ
    äöü
    ß

… of course there are different keyboards.
The y and z are interchanged, but as english is a germanic language, the “usage density” of letters is pretty much te same for english and german, and therefor they are pretty much the same. All interpunction is on different places though.

Ever seen a russian keyboard :) …they look good as well.

  • That was me,
    Falk

And AFAIR german was considered as a second official language for the US when it was founded: as an affront against the former colonial lords.
It didn’t make it by far though…

I wonder wether i should construct some weird accusation … like the US being unthankful for the german support in their independance… but i think you would take it seriously and not as the joke it would be… so i don’t do it…

  • English is the dominent business language of the world. Most Americans take that as English is the dominent language of the world.

  • English is also the dominant “Scientific language”. Although there are some Swedish, Slavic, and German language scientific journals available, the vast (VAST) majority of credible, high-index (that means highly referenced) peer-reviewed journals are in the English language. If you publish in English, you are likely to reach around 95-98% of your target audience. If you publish in another language the numbers are MUCH lower than this (although dedicated English investigators may find a translator, i never bothered to as for every German source there were a dozen or so credible English sources to draw from).

  • Yeah, I have to agree with you there, only if you don’t count Latin )
