Everyone. I am looking to see if there is an available tournament schedule for any version of the game. Would love to meet new people and compete a little bit pushing plastic.
GARGANTUA'S $200 TOURNAMENT OF EXTRA DEATH AND PAIN (TripleA Only) 2xELIMINATION

I think the objective is to test the idea that some have been promoting, that the addition of a Russian bomber balances the game and obviates the need for a bid. People playing in the 3rd round of a tournament like this will all be solid players and it gives a good venue to objectively test out the idea.

i understand the idea and think it is a good one, but should be a suggestion and not mandated.
when people signed up for the tournament this is not something they have been expecting to change 6 months into a tournament.

garg clearly stated that he could change anything at anytime, or something to that effect no? :-)
i think forcing the russians to have a bomber is fine, but then we could still bid so that’s all i was asking.
-
Boldfresh’s assessment is correct.
Put the bomber on the board, and bid from that point or don’t.

I’ve got to agree with my partner on this one. I think mandating changes 3 rounds in throws too big of a twist into a tournament - especially when we have already been playing for months.
I think testing the Russian bomber is a great idea and I would love to try it out with anyone outside of the tournament. If people think this makes the game more balanced then it will naturally filter into later round bids. We have had the ability to play allies +12 all along and will continue to be able to do this without making it mandatory.
Also, while it has been 2-1 axis wins in the early rounds, I still think this will balance out in later rounds with more experienced players. Garg I think your tournament is an excellent place to test the idea that experience and teamwork will win the day for the allies and I fear that mandating a huge change won’t let us see if this is true or not.

I have a question. The rules seem to indicate that a bombing raid by a strategic bomber causes damage as dr+2. I just tested this in tripleA and it only damaged as dr. What’s the story?

scratch that, it works as it should.

I’m cool with the bomber starting round 3. If its there for everyone then we can get a good read on whether or not it helps balance. This tournament is not a democracy or even it’s mentally challenged cousin, a republic. Do as you’re told people.

i think it’s a very fair compromise if a bid is still allowed. if you think the bomber is too much, bid for the axis!

With the new russian strategis bomber… Can the bomber be placed anywhere in Russia, or is it starting in Moscow?
-
Moscow.

Gargantua, there is a time limit in wich if your enemies don’t post a move you automatically win the game? If so, how long is it?
-
At this stage….
After 10 days of NO correspodence (so long as you have attempted to contact them). Let me know, and I will decide.
-
Rules against taking partner’s turn? limitations?
-
How abou aouask your opponent at the start of the game if it’s allright with them. That’s what we did.
-
What happens if a game just refuses to end? What determines the winner?
-
I think it should be done with judges that way people don’t stall toward the end to maintain whatever criteria for winning there is.
-
At the same time though, composite TUV, unit count, and production should be taken into consideration.
Also the nature of the game, axis win at certain VC opportunities, I do feel the burden falls on the axis to win, so you can easily fastforward a round for both sides to setup and then do an all in attack and defense for the VC to see who wins.
So we could make the burden fall on defending VCs, which is what the axis should be trying to go for. I am an aggressive player so I prefer a more objective oriented mechanism for determining a winner.
Plus judges can be very subjective. Fast forwarding and forcing the axis to attack for a VC makes more sense to me.
-
Never did a PBF tournament before, the live ones always had a winner.
-
By live I mean tripleA, I don’t believe in axis and allies face to face tournaments @ 2 hours a game (just seems so silly to have only 4-5 rounds).
