you call it gambit, I call it being aggressive and playing the game. I got better things to do than play a 24 hour game that is boring, I did that before, grinded out wins that way, but that is boring… If you see an opportunity and you have better than a coin flip at winning, you take it.
It’s easy to calculate 2-4 rounds in advance on triplea, there is a build in calculator. For a live games, you have to rush, otherwise the game ends without a clear victor as everyone goes home after so many hours sometimes people just lose interest.
So yes, rushing is standardized for a game like this. 1941 was made for people who are tired of playing grinders / people who stare at capitals and don’t go in. People have lives, they want to live it and not spend 2 whole days trying to resolve one board game.
That is why I like alpha3, it favors the aggressive player and both sides can be aggressive.
G7 russia is 60-95% everytime. Usually I have to start buying more than 30 ipc worth of stuff in europe by then so I don’t delay past that. Depends on how europe got off on the start what the odds look like later.
Germany has to take russia, you can’t win without it, unless you take london and hold it for a long time then maybe you can get egy/vol/nov and skip russia.
Sooner germany gets it the better. He is going to maximize his odds for it. With japan keeping usa busy and holding up that end of the map, saving russia leaves just UK to help and maybe a few other things from usa.
