@trenacker
I’ve been painting some pieces the last two weeks. I’m having trouble with Rustoleum Lemongrass for the UK. The paint doesn’t apply very well. I use Eden for USA, French blue for France, rustic orange for Japan, flat gray for Germany. Lemongrass is just a pain for whatever reason.
"Tall Paul's" A&A INFRASTRUCTURE units detailed and painted by "WARMACHINE Team"

The sticker place I found says, axis and allies is to small for them to produce stickers, so I’m back to square one on the Union Jacks.

Guys,
––To be complete, here’s a pic of the HBG-Minor Facories after the aplication of decal setting solution and a matte finish overspray to hide the decal finish and general shine. Enjoy.

Guys,
––Here’s an “in-process” pic of an Anti-Aircraft Gun (Standard) that will eventually number eighty (80). They have a rather somber paint scheme of overall Gunmetal with Silver & Black highlights.
–-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----I am tremendously happy with everything A&A being produced and will undoubtably buy multiples of each and every one.
––That being said, for my own gaming purposes I’m testing an experiment of “Standardising” a FEW unit types,…so that I have ONE common sculpt rather than SEVEN unique sculpts, one for each nation.
----Thus Anti-Aircraft Guns (Standard) and Artillery, Towed (Standard) units will utilize the SAME sculpts for ALL nations. The 105 Standard Artillery units are heavily modified/detailed by Wil Tan and IMHO are awesome!
––Since there are literally DOZENS of unit types, …all having unique sculpts for each nation for most if not all of them it seemed only logical that if I “standardised” a FEW unit types on a single sculpt, that there would obviously be fewer units to be identitified. Thus speeding up the game somewhat. I started out with this idea to assist my 89-year old WW2 veteran Dad in our gaming sessions,…but it just made sense to use these “standardised” units. Of course I’m only suggesting “standardising” basic units that have a commonality between all nations for use in my own games and not to promote their use by anyone else. What do Ya’ll Think?

Looks nice. Black and silver are a combination I’ve always liked – it looks classy.

Guys,
––Here’s are some “In-Process” pics of the Air Bases (3-Dimensional). In time these units will have White decal stripes down the center of the runway, a White apron at the end, and possibly runway numbers. The control towers will have windows also. Notice the Gray concrete runways, Silver hangers, and Brown air control tower.
––These units are from Shapeways.
Enjoy!(Naval Bases are also “In-Process”)

wow this looks so cool. What’s the scale size? any chance you can take a picture with a fighter on the base too see the size comparison? would these bases be too big on a A&A Europe or pacific game board?
-
jwo1984 and others,
wow this looks so cool.
––I like them, too. I’ve been wanting them to be made for more than 5 years
What’s the scale size?
––All I can say is that they are “THE RIGHT SIZE”
any chance you can take a picture with a fighter on the base too see the size comparison?
––Here’s a “file” pic from off the SHAPEWAYS site––NOTE that these painted aircraft are NOT our work,…just a “FILE” pic showing size comparison.

jwo1984 and others,
would these bases be too big on a A&A Europe or pacific game board?
––In order to answer that I would say YES,…and no.
Yes, because the long runways will work fine in larger countries AS THEY ARE,…
and No because I am trimming the runway length on about half of them so that they will look acceptable for use in small countries or islands.––Here are some “file” pics of the Air Bases as they come originally.

Those airbases are pretty cool. Got to admit! :-D

John,
Those airbases are pretty cool. Got to admit! :-D
––We will be playing on them before too much longer. I’ve wanted these 3-Dimensional Air Bases for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time! I can’t stand the cardboard cr*p that comes in the box nowadays.
––Let me say this here and now.
I am still very much looking forward to HBG Air and Naval Bases that (I think) will be coming out with their FACILITIES set and I will buy several!Tall Paul

––Thanks for the comment. I always enjoy seeing YOUR newest painted units. You do such nice work.
Tall PaulUh, I appreciate the sentiment but I think you’re confusing me with someone else since I’ve never painted any of my A&A or HBG units. I don’t have the dexterity or the patience for that kind of work. I did produce a set of sculpt identification charts, which I posted in a separate thread in this section of the board, but fortunately that project involved photography rather than painting. :-)

Wow, those naval bases are killer! :-D

very cool and unique sculpt with the naval bases! are you painting them “generic” across the board? or will each naval base have a country insignia or color scheme change?
-
John,

––I’m glad you like them. We’ll both probably get to utilize them in our next game.

jwo1984 and others,
very cool and unique sculpt with the naval bases!
––Glad you like them. I have always hated the cardboard cr*p that comes with the games,…and I really have a preference for
3-Dimensional pieces whenever that’s possible. I’ve been waiting for these to be produced for five years or more
are you painting them “generic” across the board?
––YES
or will each naval base have a country insignia or color scheme change?
––I considered it,…but it seemed to make the paint job too “cluttered”. And after considering the “big picture” I decided that it would be much better to have “generic” units for these Air and Naval Bases. These Naval Bases ORIGINALLY came with a tiny flagpole w/flag that would have been impossible to use so we cut them off. I originally had also thought about placing decals saying “air force” or “navy” on top of the barracks but even this seemed to be too “cluttered”. The space on top of the fuel tank is designed to hold an Anti-Aircraft Gun (Standard).––Here is a “File” pic from the Shapeways site showing the tiny flagpoles we cut off.

Guys,
––Here are a couple of FINISHED pics of the 3-Dimensional Naval Bases that were just now completed. I’ve been waiting almost five years to have some well detailed 3-dimensional Air and Naval Bases. I just hate the cardboard cr*p that comes in the game. Enjoy!

wow these look fantastic!!! those bases take the gaming experience to a whole-other-level! could you post a shot with some painted warships next too the bases by chance??
