Probably could have stalled the US landing for a couple of rounds, but then I would have had to keep buying naval units and I would lose any progress on the Eastern Front. That French battle in Sudan really hurt. Norway is annoying also. You can really see the power of that Russian Communist NO in effect in this final version of Alpha.
I feel the Euro Axis is ready to break any moment. Its too bad, b/c Japan has a lot of positive things going for it in the Pacific- though I feel 6VCs is still a ways yet. That Major I bought in Korea is turning out to be a waste. $30 down the drain and I can’t get around to using it yet. You are still holding it together in the middle with Russia- nice job. Axis is tough. I still think this version of Alpha is slightly Allied advantage. Coordination is so powerful for them with 6 Allies. Geography also works to their advantage. What do you think so far???

I have been finding that the Soviet NO is a huge factor, especially if they can get some units down into Africa. Iraq is almost a freeby for them. The game is definitely a race against time for the axis and that’s why I think the slow Barbarossa approach is a tough sell now. They really have to crush USSR from both sides early on because the allies come on so strong after round 8, 9, 10….
In this instance I think the naval arms race would be very hard for germany to sustain and taking back Norway would be too expensive too. I can USSR reduce Germany’s tank force and hang on while the Americans open up the second front. Japan still has a lot going for it but US and ANZAC are rebuilding.
Anyway I will post this Russia turn and get back to it tomorrow, and start the G1 game. Busy day today.

Yeah tough rolls on Belo- ouch!
I’ve calculated a 99% chance I get Moscow next turn (includes landing Brit planes there). I don’t think there is anything you can do about it, unless I missed something. You should be able to get it back the next turn though. However, I’ll have $100 bucks cash on hand AND Russia won’t be able to build anything for a round- ouch!
I guess that Belo battle makes up for the Sudan battle. This game always balances out like that it seems. First you think you are on the short end of the stick with Lady Luck then the next thing you know it, she’s all over you. Funny how that works in AA.
I think you just made this a game again for the Axis, considering the Belo blowout and the losses in the Pacific. Allies are still in it though- just a setback I would say.

Yeah, position on the EFront is huge. EPoland is the key IMHO. Whoever owns it and can lock it down has the advantage. That’s b/c now it splits the Russian forces and they usually have to vacate the north for the rich south. Do you use a battle calculator??? I do- got the app on my phone. I ask b/c it seems like you didn’t crunch the numbers on the EFront before you positioned yourself in Belo.
