• Looks like Anniversary is coming back. At least the box cover is almost exactly the same, most likely it will be updated to the new rules and units.

I don’t believe a word of any of it! April Fools joke if ever there was one!

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

I thought that at first too… but isn’t today April 2nd?

  • TripleA '12

Ok, so they were a little late in getting this one out…

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

I don’t see any listed references on WOTC’s site, OR Harris Game Design.

    We’ve all been HAD!

Get the pitchforks and torches!  This was a day late and a buck short!

  • Wow…

  • but there had already been talk of a 1941 game releasing in June more then a month ago.  So i don’t see it as a joke on april 2nd.

    More LIES!

  • It lists 8 new sculpts out of the 16.

This product is some attempt to placate the people who want alternate sculpts. This brings up the issue that multiple sculpts of the same units are now available, so in keeping with the obvious next step of assigning different attributes….

P-40: ( US only)( replace the US fighter in China with this). If attacking enemy land units with no defensive air support, this plane should attack at 4 for each combat round…

    3-4-4-11

Tiger Tank: ( Germany only) Can be built with Advanced Tank technology ( replace and discard “war bonds”

    4-4-2-8

AVRO Lancaster ( UK only) These bombers can be used to attack Subs w/o a destroyer, but UK can only build them starting on turn 4 in global40.

    4-1-6-11

FW-190 ( Germany Only) Has benefit as an interceptor and if scrambling on
    defense gets a +1

    3-4-4-10

IS-2 tank (Soviet only) these are 4-3-2-8 tanks and can be built only if the Soviet player has pushed out all German forces out of prewar Russia.

    4-3-2-8

HMS Hood ( UK player only) moves 4 spaces either with or without benefit of naval base. the UK swaps out one of his BB’s with this ( in G40), but this is a 4-3-2-20 unit

He-111 German player only) during SBR the German player gets a +2 in results against enemy Industrial complexes.

Akagi Aircraft Carrier ( Japan only) replace one Japanese carrier with this unit in setup. It carries 3 planes, otherwise its a normal Carrier.

    Very exciting NEWS!!!

  • TIGER TANKS.  sold.

  • I’ll buy the game just to get the pieces.

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

    Yep!

  • TIGER TANKS?! IS-2 TANK?! Im buying it for sure!!!

  • Sounds cool! For $30 it’s a deal, and all the new pieces look great!

(Though the Tigers and IS-3’s look overpriced, the Avro is great, and the Hood seems to be to good for a BB…)
    Can’t wait! :D

    YOU SAW PICS?! :-o

  • Customizer

WOuld be cool to see some pics…  Really curious as to that shortened gaming time, and will the new sculpts mentioned have different abilities… will some units get the axe…  NEW SCUPLTS.  Excited.

  • TripleA '12

Hmm… I’m curious about the ‘shortened game length’. What could this mean, exactly? I expect we could be looking at fewer spaces on the map, less units than usual/expected for the set up, no technology or national objectives, and possibly a turn limit? What else?

Also, being an ‘introductory level’ game to get new players involved, I think it’s quite obvious there will be a fewer rules than what we are used to. However, I very much doubt that these ‘new sculpts’ will have their own special abilities; more like they will just be for show/decoration.

I also expect some units will be intentionally left out - possibly Mech. Infantry and Tac. Bombers. Perhaps even Cruisers!

    Thoughts?

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

    It’s one of these things.

    1.  Maybe they’ve ditched the capital capture concept.

So long as you’ve accomplished certain goals (More readily capturable victory cities) or destroyed a certain amount of units, or met whatever economic requirements, you win.

    2.  That, or it’s the D-Day/Bulge, 10 turns concept.  Where the victor is determined, by the map, at the time the clock strikes 10.

    3.  OR, they go way back, to the 2000 Pacific Concept, where the axis has a rising/sliding point scale, that if they reach equates victory.
