Hi Markus
Enjoy your game with crockett :)
I’m lucky in Atlantic today, but odds were with me even with a UK3 attack afterwords. Theoretically, I should loose a second unit and it would be a Tac, not DD. However, I don’t know your intent for sure and may be missing something. Let’s see.
No no, you play well and luck played not that big a part. This is a perfect example of how one does not see what is easily to see when not expecting something / not having encountered something before. Had I blocked that move somehow I’d consider myself a good player, but this is why I am here, to learn (the hard way :-) ).
After your R3 and before I go with J3 we need to clear one thing. If I leave sz6 with no ships and you move US fleet to sz6 and declare an amphibious assault on Japan, I am planning to try kamikaze strikes. The rules (follow the link I sent) say:
If an Allied player attacks Japanese units or declares an amphibious assault from one of these sea zones, the Japanese player can announce at the beginning of the Conduct Combat phase that he or she intends to launch one or more kamikaze strikes. ….
A kamikaze strike prevents offshore bombardment supporting an amphibious assault in that sea zone, whether or not it is successful.
So, the bombardment is prevented even if a defender (me) uses just 1 strike whatever enemy ship (DD, BB, CA, or AC) will be attacked by the kamikaze. Particularly, if the kamikaze target is a carrier which doesn’t conduct a bombardment, no bombardment can be done.
Please let me know if we are not in the same page and don’t forget to ask for the kamikaze order before rolling the dice. Tnks
Hi, sorry for not playing regularily lately, had a live game yesterday and not able in the morning, either.
Re Kamikaze, I think we both have the same interpretation. What I never was entirely clear about is if one kamikaze prevents ALL ships from bombardment, or just the one attacked. Its not that clearly worded, unfortunately, but I also tend to see it as you do, ie like a naval battle with a regular air unit, which would prevent bombardment.

BTW, I dont see a BB in SZ 37, you mean a cruiser, right?
You are a gambler. It’s about your Russian transport.
Yes, there is no BB over there, CA instead.
Will do the battle today later, whatever the time difference is. I’m in Florida.
Any preferences in OOL (UK planes go away last and AC first) or let’s see how the rolls doing?
Florida, I see. Time difference to CET (I am from Austria) is 6 hours I think, thought you are from California.
No, I am not a gambler, I know that odds are with you. My problem is that I did not think of the second carrier and the additional landing capacity when assembling the fleet off India, and if they go down, they better take with them as much as they can. I really really need concentrate more and make sure I calculate ALL the possibilites. Not that hard, and especially with PbF I really should be able to do so :)
As for OOL, guess it will take a week to do it round by round. Just maximise my defense capabilities and take air last, if possible. AC first. Thx
