I usually start shipping troops and a small fleet to africa to threaten the underbelly of Europe, building up enough forces over several turns to eventually launch a strike or reinforce WEU. At the same time I am slowly building a navy in the Pacific to make sure Japan doesnt go unchecked, and maybe if japan has their navy out of the way I will build a transport and take borneo, just to be an annoyance.

Baiting is best done AFTER you have determined that your opponent might be subject to it. The most common way of determining that is by a moderately risky attack by your opponent in the first 1-2 moves of the game. If they roll for moderate odds battles (70% or less) early on, then future baiting may pay off.

Or if they try for a Russian Triple on Russia 1. :P

But honestly, baiting only pays off when you are winning. Otherwise, baiting will always help your opponent.

The trick is NOT to play the Americans.

What you have to play is the Allies, or a member of the Allies.

Trying to do things without your team = loss.

Generally, I go like - Build infantry plus other units in E. US, march them to W. US on next turn, transport to London with transport “A” on next turn, transport to Africa or Europe with transport “B” next turn. It takes a long time to set up a transport chain, but once it’s going as described, it’s a big pain. Especially when you take transport “A” off of shuttle duty and unite it with the rest of the fleet. Five UK transports followed by six US transports is quite a threat.

If you want to go KJF, you build a lotta navy.

Remember, you don’t need to know how to play the AMERICANS. You need to know how to play the ALLIES. It doesn’t matter if you build an Atlantic fleet OR a Pacific fleet if you have the UK doing nothing but building infantry on London, or if you have Moscow buildling nothing but bombers.

Here is a wild one…

Catholic Mass: Allows Italy to ONCE call for the Pope to endorse Italy’s roll in the war. If succesful (1 in 6 on die) would create 1 INF in every neutral nation that was largely Catholic, controlled by Italy. Effected nations: Spain, Argentina, Peru, Venezuala. IPC amount for each effected nation raised to 1 each.

And this for your “frogmen”
Scuttle Crew: Would allow 1 INF to attack 1 Allied naval unit that PER INF that is adjacent to an Italian held territory containing INF (Italy specifies targets). INF rolls normal attack (1 in 6) and if succesful sinks 1 Allied ship. Such attack preceeds normal attack round. Failure is loss of Italy INF.

My old A&A crew, from when I lived in Albuquerque, (of which justus and DonkeyPunchNightmare are members) would be glad to play all the time. Sometimes I feel as if I’m getting rusty, because they play fairly often, while I play once ina blue moon, at best. For this reason, much of mine and justus’ phone conversations are about - you guessed it - A&A!
