In all my games I haven’t tried this with the axis……not sure if it will all fall apart on me by turn 6-7?
-
hmmm we’ll see.
just saw this, may want to attack z3 (sub, cru) - if i do obviously your sub will fight but if i hit in round 1 will you lose the sub or the cru?
-
i mean attack with the russian sub of course.

I think you need to attack z3 and hit something before I need to select my loss? I would prob lean towards losing the ss but I could change my mind.

do you want to lose the sub or the cru? you must choose before the cruiser fires of course.
-
i’m not sure but i think if the sub hits on attack, you may have to choose a casualty to come off immediately (unable to fire a defense). if so, then you only roll one dice in defense for either your sub or cruiser, which would be the six. if you can choose the sub as a casualty and it is still allowed to fire a surprise strike in the first round (i think this is how it works, which is why i fired both at the same time) then the sub has already fired and the cruiser would be allowed to fire as well IF you take the sub as your casualty.
i’ve presented this question in the rules and errata thread:
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=12601.new

yeah i’m almost sure your sub fires no matter what since there is no attacking destroyer present (all subs get a sneak attack if there is no destroyer present). so your choice here is to either declare the sub your casualty and give your destroyer a chance to defend, or you take the cruiser as the casualty and declare that your sub will submerge or continue to fight.

Krieg confirmed it. if you take the sub as a casualty, it still gets to fire. so let me know if you want to take the sub or cruiser as casualty - again if you take the cruiser, it is not allowed to fire in defense this round.

wow, now I am confused….I guess I will look at the thread in the league rules…It would have been easier if you rolled one 1,2,3 for the cruiser.
-
it is amazing after all the games we play that some rules still seem confusing (side note)……
And I never saw the thread you posted in the rule section, sorry,
the way I understand it…both R & G ss fire at the same time, thereby negating a “sneak”, if the R sub hits, the G player can select the sub to be hit and lost even though it already fired. Just as if there wasn’t another ship in the fight. Both ships get to fire, if one hit’s it doesn’t discount the other’s dice roll. If both G & R ss’s “hit” both subs would be lost.
So…I would select the G sub to be lost (it still gets it’s initial attack) and now the Cruiser gets to defend for the 4th time and probably will miss again?
-
ok the german sub sinks as it chokes out it’s third missed torpedo.
let’s see if this german cruiser captain can miss one more time…
