• Forget 2nd Edition, why don’t you use 3rd Edition? Much more steamlined with extra stuff.

  • no kamikazes and crap, right?

i read the rules, sounds good.

maybe i can get another friend of mine to join the tournement.

  • I rather like Kamikazes. They’re everywhere you want to be. And the drawback puts it well within reason.

  • but they aren’t of the official version 3 rules, right?

I never played with Kamikazes, it would suck to lose a carrier to punk ass suicidal fighter! Japan has a good strategic position anyway.

  • When I mean First Addition, I mean after the initial release when they fixed problems in the game.

Second addition, meaning Submerging Subs, Naval Occupation, ect we are not playing with.

Off topic, but a tank cannot blitz after being unloaded from a transport. Thats a bug from the computer game.

I’m in. I don’t care what rules as long as everyone is on the same page. There are some nice PBEM utilities at AAMC if anyone is interested.

A game master recives the moves from the individual players, makes the rolls and sends out the results back to the players.

    william.cook@wsfp.com

  • Yanny, do you have a link to the exact rules we’re using?

    and whos a game master?

How about the links for the utilities we use to PBEM?

    thanks

  • '19 Moderator

Here is a link to some map utilities.

    http://www.aamc.net/dloads.shtml

I recomend the AAAWINMAP utility. It keeps an IPC count for individual countries as well as teams. It’s user friendly exept that a few of the texts are in German. One problem is that it won’t work on some machines.

We should aso decide on a format for typing out turn orders. I can post one of mine if it would be helpful.

  • sounds good, but wouldn’t it take weeks to finish one game?

  • '19 Moderator

Yes, but that is the only alternative to trying to schedule games on a game server like the Zone, or in a chat room.

You useualy get One turn a day finnished and games usualy take a month or more.

  • Kinda of reminds me of age-old chess games where you’d manually have to write a letter or call on the phone so you could make a move. Ah those were the good old days. Also a problem I see here are the sea zones. Since the game board has no sea zones, how will we determine which sea area to move into?

Also for the standard turn procedure, do you really have to show how many IPCs each country is making? I think that job should be left to the GM.

Never before have we had so little time in which to do so much

If you use the map utility it has names for all the sea zones, also the deployment is not realy nessaccery.

For those that don’t know, a map utility is a small program that lets you add, delete or move units on a map and send the map to some one else who has the same program so that they can make modifications and send it back. The utility however dosen’t roll dice or enforce movement rules, its just a picture. So you need eather an automated dice server or a Game Master.

I just took a look in the down loads section on this site and the DOS map utility is there. However as I said before the windows utility is much more user friendly. However if your system runs on an NT platform I don’t think the Windows Utility works.

There is always the MOT utility though. With the mot utility your file contains all of the game turns in a windows file type format, so you can review previous turns. Also, MOT has modules for A&A, AAP and AAE.
The link can be found at the same place as the one I listed above.

  • Gamemaster will be me for some games, and I would like to recruit other people to help me out.

And I just set up my board and move the pieces that way when playing via email.

We cannot play on the Zone because that would limit the number of players who could play, not everyone has the computer game.

Games do take awhile. Especially 50+ turn games. But hell, war isnt over in a week!

  • Yanny, why can’t we use the windows based program?

if you want to use a board, then okay. as long as you are willing to do all that work!

I’ll volunteer to be a game master. if i am wasting your time, the least I can do is the same for someone else here  i’ll try to borrow my friend’s board so I can have my game and someone else’s in my living room.

  • Sure Hornet, I’ll put you down.

I use a board cause I am old fashioned. You guys can use whatever you want. Hell, the computer game can be used if you want. Just edit units after every turn.

  • “War isn’t over in a week!” I would love to think so too but that blasted 6 Days War (1967) in the Middle East sure proved otherwise. I could be the color commentator though I don’t know how much of a use I could be.

  • Im in yo. Set it up, lets dig in.

  • yeah, the good ol’ six days war: the begginning of “occupation.”

BTW Yanny, you will clarify how we’re doing things b4 we start right?

and my name is “HortenFlyingWing” not hornet  basically the hortenflyingwing can be any horten design, like the Ho229 (Gotha 229) or the Ho18 Amerika Bomber. Most forums goers call me “horten”, but i have heard “flying wing” and “that guy.” You maky also call me:
    “Flying H”
    “Big poppa smurf”
    or my real name “Craig.”

    Just call me “Horten”…
