Looking for an opponent. I would prefer no tech. Warning: Last PBF A&A I played, G40 OOB if I remember correctly, was over a year ago. So I may be a little rusty but it’s like riding a bike, right? I’ll start the bid at 0. A counter-bid or a coin flip will both work for me.
While I wait for an opponent I got questions any kind soul may answer:
What AAmod are people using? The two I downloaded from this site is for OOB or alpha 2 and I fail to open the maps from a3 games I try to spy on…Are the alpha +3 rules (http://www.harrisgamedesign.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=6149) the same or newer than a3.9 and/or a3final that I’ve seen mentioned?
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
-
Right now the current rules are the latest on Larry’s site.
The current Mod is Alpha 3.9…. (Yes, that is how many changes have been made)
I think you can get the map here.

I got mine somewhere that I do not recall.
-
Works like a charm, thanks a lot. :-)
-
Mistergreen, you get an opponent? While I probably shouldn’t take on another game, I just can’t help myself… if you are still open I’ll bid -3 (meaning, if you don’t know, if you take the axis the allies get +3 to place on board before start)
-
I’m open. I’ll bid 6. Are partial bids allowed or are owerflow lost?
-
Correction bid -6. :-)
-
Btw do you got a map with the correct setup? I noticed a couple of errors in the start setup…
-
Oh and I may need a reminder of the syntax for the dice roller.
Think is was something like:
Rolls: 4@1 3@2 1@3; Total Hits: 24@1: (2, 2, 4, 3)3@2: (1, 6, 1)1@3: (5)
-
ok, I’ll take your -6. I got the allies you the axis.
Yeah, I got the right map. I’ll post it on the forum with my +6 placements.
the code is:
Rolls: 4@1 2@2 3@3 4@3; Total Hits: 44@1: (5, 5, 3, 3)2@2: (3, 1)3@3: (5, 5, 1)4@3: (6, 3, 3, 4)
so just a colon 3a’s then your role sets then a colon

Looking for another game or two. Prefer no tech.
-
I’m new and am looking for an opponent. Any takers?
-
Maybe I need to quantify my ‘newness’ and/or change my handle :|
I’m new* to the site and to Global. My first real exposure to A&A was on AAMC.net many years ago. I used to play PBEM A&A classic games on said site. I only had a record of about .500 in over 40 games played. I started off losing 10 of my first 12 games there before I started to figure out what I was doing and evened out my record. I then found GTO and started playing there, racking up a 108-37 record playing AAR.
I played global A3.9 ftf two weeks ago where I managed to take EUS with Germany on round four and win the game before even invading USSR. My axis partner opened the ball up with first round strikes in the pacific. I was threatening a sea lion and then moved against EUS from Gib instead a caught my opponent flat footed an unable to respond. He could have retaken the capital w/US but my Italian fleet w/6 trn was massed in sz91 ready to take it a 2nd time.
I’m currently playing my first PBEM game in 4-5 years and my 2nd global against mistergreen. We’ve got a game going right now if you want to check it out. I’ve made quite a few mistakes in gameplay due to unfamiliarity w/the G40 A.39 ruleset and rust. But I don’t think my overall strategy has suffered and I’m pretty happy with the allied position in Europe atm.
- I did register on here many years ago. But that was to post in but mainly read some of the strategy forums and I never played a game here.

Yes, the Alpha is Final!!! Finally!!!
http://www.harrisgamedesign.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=6149
What’s on this document is being printed right now- available sometime this fall Larry said. Been waiting for the changes to stop so I could finally get back to league and tourny play with a final version.
I got 4 games going right now (a little practice run for the final Alpha in Global). I’ll probably play a couple more FTF games with my group too soon. After that, I’ll be joining you boys once again- probably May-June. Can’t wait. :-D
-
Get in it now! Most of use are playing the final Alpha 3.9. The struggle won’t wait….

Looking for a G40 opponent, Alpha 3.9, you know how we do.
-
I’m game!
you know how we do
Alas I’m not sure I do? :-)
Wanna bid or flip? -
I will give you the choice of Axis or Allies, MisterGreen. I don’t think a bid is needed with the current Alpha setup, though that’s still somewhat debatable.
-
I’ll have another go at Axis then. I’ll PM you a link when tread is created.
-
still looking. I’m playing 3 games; losing one, winning one, and one’s too early to call but I think I have the upper hand there as well. I can usually get at least 1 turn in per day if not more.
