Hi everybody, I just join to this forum and surprisingly IÂ´ve noticed that here are a lot of players. Do someone here have heared about the Ladder (tripleA web league)? The tripleA web league is the best place you can find to play AA 4th edition by PBEM or on line.

Why a Ladder?

1. find easly opponents, since many players are getting addicted of A&A
2. have fun
3. have an idea of our personal skills, we have a world ranking.
4. show up how good we are (nobody excluded)

We play normally the triplea 0.6.0.1, if someone doesnÂ´t have the software you can download it following this steps:

For those of you who don’t check the AA50 boards, there’s a discussion going on over there that’s relevant to AAR as well. It appears that Hasbro is taking action to shut down TripleA, probably in the hopes that they will make more money from Game Table Online as a result. I still haven’t played A&A with my group, I played it only once 1v1 with my brother, and we didn’t spend our IPC’s on AA’s and IC’s, I was just curious about limitations, so I know in the future :-)

Wow, what a thread!

I must say, I take NCS’s position on this one for several reasons, the most pertinant of them being that

a) While the Axis certainly CAN win without a bid, when you have players of equal skill and who are equally skilled at playing both Axis AND Allies (not just one or the other side), a bid can certainly make the difference in the early round(s) and many times it’s what happens the first 2 rounds that can help decide the game.

b) figuring out statistics is something that can only be done over thousands and thousands of games. I mean, you can flip a coin 100 times and get 90 heads. Does that mean the odds of getting tails are skewed? No, because if you were to flip that coin 10,000 times or 100,000 times the odds are it would be very close to 50/50 and 1,000,000 times or more and likely the difference would be so negligible as to allow us to say it was 50/50. While we cannot play 1,000,000 AAR games, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to suggest that a bid helps even out the game.

You know, just as many of the issues of AA Classic were worked out in AAR, I think probably in the next iteration (or version) that many of the issues we’ve seen here will be worked out as well. Maybe an extra unit here or another territory there… whatever it takes to balance the game.

We did… And Japan played VERY well, but my Germany was NOT up to par…

There are 2 threads in the Games section (the first game you can disregard, it was my first ever game of Revised, and I lost Berlin in Turn 2). Then second shows better how I use my Japan forces…
