I have to report another loss.  In my one hope to win I had 4 US Artys invading against 2 German Soldiers in Denmark which would have opened the door to get Berlin, but I rolled poorly and lost.  Good game CW!  Thanks for playing.

Shoot!  Sounds like it was the right move to make!  Nothing’s guaranteed with dice

My games provide continual proof of that ol adage.

I sort of made up for it in another game, where a Strategic bomber defended against a tank and an infantry!

  • 2007 AAR League

i find it amusing a guy with a 3-25 record is tagged for cheating…

  • 3 wins for the Allies so far today!

Allied win pct is up to .445

Pretty sure Allies have won more then half the past month or two….

I guess I could start tracking it by month…

  • 2007 AAR League

question, in my game against unknown soldier he has 6 pacific VC’s yet the usa owns italy……does he get a VC win without controlling all of his own capitals?

  • yes

  • You only need one capital, and it doesn’t even have to be the one on the board you’re getting the win on (wouldn’t have to be Tokyo)

    How’s this for a laugher?
The Allies win after controlling all 3 Axis capitals for an entire round of play,
AS LONG AS they also control at least one Allied capital…

Paris counts.  Calcutta and Sydney don’t

  • '12

    calcutta and sydney don’t count?

  • Rule book says Moscow, London, Washington, Paris as a definition of Allied Capitals, and it doesn’t say “for example”

as we know, we cannot always take the rulebook word for word.

Good dice beat good tactics any day of the week, and twice on somedays (I did not forget the space, I did that deliberately.)

Rule book says Moscow, London, Washington, Paris as a definition of Allied Capitals, and it doesn’t say “for example”

If you don’t own Moscow OR London OR Washington OR Paris you really shouldn’t be allowed to win the game, in fact how did you not LOSE the game? Moscow, London and Washington are controlled by the Axis and you still failed to win?

  • That’s my point, Jenn
It’s ridiculous to say you have to control one.

Would make more sense to say you must control ALL Allied capitals, or all but one or something.

It would be virtually impossible to control all 3 Axis capitals for a full round and NOT control at least 2-3 of the major Allied capitals, so it’s just a silly rule.

  • It’s kind of a superflous rule IMHO. 99% of the time the axis will surrender way before the point where they’ve lost their capitals. Usually axis players will throw in the towel once they realize that they’ve reached their high water mark and they can’t grab the VCs they need to win. They know it’s just a matter of time before the allies win.

If my opponent made me mad, I’ll sometimes require him to WIN before I give up the game.  So it MAY come into effect, but honestly, even then, it’s “fine, you have Berlin” or “okay, well you have Tokyo so…”  never all 3.

  • Right - effectively the object of the game for the Allies is to DENY the 8/6 victory cities.

If they achieve that, they’ve won, because of course if the Axis don’t win…. the Allies do.

See first 2 posts in this thread for explanations/details.

Reminder to players to go back and look at the first post in the G40 league thread for the league rules.
One thing that has changed since then is the # of games required to make the playoffs, and how many players will participate in the playoffs, but it will still go purely by win % - that has not been changed.

  • Main change since the start of the year -

There are 4 tiers now and not 3.
    You get 6 points for beating a tier 1, 5 for tier 2, 4 for tier 3, and 3 for tier 4
You get 2 points for losing against a tier 1, 1 for tier 2, and 0 for tier 3 or 4

Generally, cutoffs between tiers are 3.5 PPG for tier 1
    2.5 PPG for tier 2
    1.5 PPG for tier 3

Axis vs. Allied results are tracked at the far right, by player, by tier, and in total for all 2013 league games.

    13 games?
    8 players in playoff?

What in the case that 2 guys have the same win percentage, and the same score too for example 25-12?

    1. You need to meet the required number of games to qualify.
    2. Best win percentages will play in the playoffs (not sure on number of brackets right now.)
    3. In the case of a tie, for a playoff spot, the player with more games will continue over the player with fewer games.  So if Player A had 50 games and a percentage of 98% and Player B had 25 games and a percentage of 98%, then player A would take priority for the playoffs over player B.
