G40 League House Rule project

None the less that game went from two newbies duking it out in a really casual game to one guy turning into a douche and so the other guy got really salty.

No matter how you slice it. It was a casual game even if it was league, it was still super casual. Redoing battles, editing, doing turns over, and all that… yeah that is casual.

It is one thing to edit for bugs/patch updates/computer crashes… it is another to allow edits before your turn… another to allow edits after your turn… another to redo stuff…

You know what a fighter illegally moving is? A fighter that stares at where he was trying to go or a fighter that had to fight neutrals to get there (if you did your noncombat movement in combat and you flew over neutrals, yeah you got to fight that). That is what that is.

Same thing for Jeff. A forget is a forget, too bad so sad. You guys were playing real casual up until then.

I learned to do my turns right the first time. I let most players do whatever especially if they tell me they are a beginner and I even remind some players about certain tricks I could do… I said, “1 infantry is not good enough to block my one bomber which has exactly enough movement to get there, please put another infantry at least or I am going to attack it and try to blitz your capital.” Sometimes I tell people this and they leave it the way it was and they just accept defeat when it happens. I forgot who, but I got “warm up dice” in my email… which was pretty funny.

Most of my league games were semi casual, even with Zhukov, which is why I have not called a win on him yet even though it has been two months. I am giving him a month before league ends before I call that one. A long time ago we would play over the lobby with no edits and we played 5 minute turns, those were good times. We had whole games done in a couple of hours.

You guys seemed to have a casual game and all of a sudden it switched to serious competitive. Which is why I frown on you.

Usually that gets established early on and it stays consistent.

I’m putting Infra between Cow and Bold (actually, it’s sorted by win %) to keep them separated…

It is not my fault Zhukov stopped playing 3:8(. I still want to finish the game and I agreed to let him have a hiatus… did not think it would be 2 months! I will still wait till the end of the season.

7a - The Regular Season for each league will start on 2 Nov. 2012 and end on 1 Nov. 2013 and the standings will then be posted.  Games must be completed prior to this date in order to be counted for the 2012 season.

1 November, 2013 is a Friday and I have already decided that any games that end before I get an official tally on that Saturday morning will just slip in and get counted as well.  Don’t count on your game getting counted if you finish on the 2nd, it’s based on when I login and take the tally.  (Was there enough emphasis there?  I could make it bigger and italicize it.)

Dizzkneeland is the latest ranked member (finishing 4 games) and weighs in currently at #19, which isn’t too shabby because we now have 39 ranked players  :-)

It has become clear to me that it is time to establish a new tier.  Tier 4.

Here are my reasons:

1. There are 21 tier 3 players, approx 14 tier 2, and approx 16 tier 1
2. There is a big difference between a .400 win pct and a .000 or .100 win pct.  I don’t think players should get the same number of points for beating somebody who virtually never wins, as they do for beating a 7-10 or 8-14 player (who are in tier
3. I’m waiting for my opponents to make a move so I have no A&A to play right now!  :lol: (And no, don’t ask me for a game because I still have 4 games going.  As soon as I get down to 2, which should be soon, then we can talk)

Note that this will only reduce the PPG of players who have wins against tier 4’s, which includes me.  It will not penalize the players who are moved to tier 4 in any way, because points and ranking comes from who you played.  Your tier level has no effect on your own PPG and ranking.

I will be awarding 3 points for a win over a tier 4, and 0 points for a loss (same as tier 3)

For those who don’t know, this is how the system works as of now:

Win against a
Tier 1 - 6 points
Tier 2 - 5 points
Tier 3 - 4 points
Tier 4 - 3 points

Lose against a
Tier 1 - 2 points
Tier 2 - 1 point
Tier 3 or 4 - 0 points

and then points per game (basis of the ranking) is your total # of points divided by the number of games completed.

I did not put my rationale out there to invite debate, but if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me - PM is preferable.  I put the rationale out there in anticipation of questions.
I am not creating the 4th tier to make anyone feel inferior.  I am creating the 4th tier to make my rankings more accurate for all players involved.

Keep in mind, there are currently two playoff tiers.  I undeleted the struck out rules section of the league rules.  So those who do not qualify based on number of games, can still qualify for the junior varsity play offs.

Yes, I wanted to remind people that the playoffs were opened up and double downed.  Is that really a phrase?  Anyway….to more easily find the wording, it’s in the opening post of the league rules, you can still read through the strike out line.

In the posts following that, you have some changes/addenda (is that the plural of addendum?)

I see behind the strikethrough that the # of games played for the minor leagues was 0-13.  Shouldn’t that be 4-13 because of the minimum to qualify?

I believe the current rule is that you need 13 games played (against 6 opponents or something like that) to be able to play best of 5 against another player who has 13 games played.  But it’s 14 games to get to the major playoff.  Any chance you could decide to make them both 13 or both 14, so I can just do a single color to show that?

Again, can you not edit the first post of the league rules?  Because at this point, to know all of the league rules you would not only have to read the first post, but all the posts after that.  If you can’t edit the first post, I would ask that you copy the first post to a new stickied thread called “2013 G40 league rules” and edit it to be accurate to the current league rules.

IMO it is your responsibility to give us all the current league rules in one location.  Thanks.
