I haven’t been formally tracking, but I am sure that activity has been increasing month by month. There have been days recently with 3 completed games in a single day, and I’ve been seeing new names popping up in league play lately.Unfortunately, we have lost some who have played like mad men for a few months and then they get burned out. Hopefully several of them will come back, but yeah…. the vast majority of those 17 players are active right now.

Change in my unofficial policy, dudes.
Since my ranking system is not and has never been official, it does not have to perfectly follow league rules. After all, the whole PPG, point system, and assigning ranking numbers (also minimum # of games played) are all according to my prerogative.So here’s the deal.
Although Jenn has been very reasonable in allowing best of 5 between 2 players, I want to take this a couple steps further.
I saw a recent result where 2 gents had played best of 3, and they wanted to play again. HOWEVER, only one of them had the requisite 13 games finished.
It ought not be that way. Therefore:There is now hereby NO LIMITATION on how many games you can play against any one given player. I will track them all. If at the end of the year you have played 13 or more games etc etc, I’m sure best of 5 will count against other players who have also played 13 or more games, and I will continue to track this in blue.
I have already set precedent for my rankings being slightly different than the official league standings, which it sounds like won’t be tabulated until toward the end of the year. As you know, when someone claims a win after their opponent disappears after barely playing, I have not counted that in my ranking systems, but they do count as official league results.
So again, I am counting ANY AND ALL games in my ranking system, but if you play extra games that are non-official, they just will not help you in the official league standings at the end of the year and will not get you into the playoffs. I may or may not keep track of WHICH games are “excess” - I probably will.
I suspect that there are MANY GOOD GAMES that have NOT been played because of this restrictive league rule, and that goes against the spirit of the league.
Well, actually I am going to have a cap, but it’s going to be much higher. Like best of 11. We don’t want too much of buddies playing each other constantly and nobody else, after all. But best of 5 is too restrictive also, and best of 3 has been a near tragedy.

If by the end of the year you have 13 or more games played against the minimum 5 or 6 different players or whatever, I think up to best of 5 will end up counting officially.
But since my spreadsheet is virtually the only record of league games in existence and I’m sharing it with everyone, and because it has no effect on the playoffs and is not considered official (nobody’s getting named champion or getting any awards as a result of the decisions I make or the spreadsheet I’ve developed), I’m thinking why be held back by the # of games that will be officially counted by Jennifer?
Best of 3 is a freaking “mini” series. You find out you like playing somebody and you have hot games that could go either way and you’re having a good time? Best of 5 isn’t enough either!

Let me clarify,
Last YEAR we had 35 games in AAG40 league. Â This year we have over 245 games. Â It’s a different year and I never would have expected to see an increase of that much in 6 months. Â (Yea, that’s right, I am now projecting over 500 games this year!)
Like others, I don’t want to see someone sitting there with 4 games all wins and go to the playoffs. Â
In the league discussion thread, I am floating the possibility of increasing the number of games to some arbitrary number. Â Feel free to go there and comment.
As for my “activity” of late, I was in the hospital for most of January, February and March and while I tried to get my netbook running and get in here, with all the medication and hoopla going on, I just wasn’t able too. Â So no, I do not CURRENTLY have a record of who played whom yet, however it’s all in the league game reporting thread and I’m sure it won’t take more than, oh, a fortnight to get it tabulated myself to confirm or repudiate Gamer’s numbers.
It’s not “official” because I have not certified it. Plain and simple. Â I am not saying it is wrong, or right, although I am pretty sure it is right, he’s not one to fudge numbers.
I am getting back on my feet, have gotten so to the point I am available to play games again. Â Heck, I just got tripleA working again yesterday. lol.
Game on! Â Give me your dang feedback on # of game minimum for playoffs in the G40 league, or don’t come crying to me in November! Â

I am willing to raise that as high as 30 game minimum or higher (or lower.) However, I don’t want to make a loud popping sound by shifting a paradigm without a clutch this late in the season without getting player feedback. League is for the players, not the moderators/founders.
