Collection: 19Well, I was figuring Jordan would cost you some land units, so I was not able to counter-attack this turn, oh well. If I don’t take the 6 cities in two turns, I’ll likely concede. I’ll probably let you finish the tournament even if I do win as I’m not really interested in advancing at this point. I would like to see if my plan works, so I’d like to conclude this game for fun at the very least.

Yea, the roll in Morocco was very favorable. The dice have definitely been favorable the latter portion of this match.

I’m going to surrender. You have enough to defend Australia, all I could do was return to Japan rebuild land, and reinforce Hawaii and fight in Asia…to stall for Europe which could rebound if I am lucky (which we know I am not), but that would add an extra 10 rounds or so to the game. To advance the tournament, it is easier to end it now.
Good game. Well played, my early experiment in Europe did not work and since you were able to defend Australia there is no point in drawing this out. (My focus was not India, just the 6 cities, that’s why I didn’t fight for the IPCs early in the Pacific.)
It would be nice to play you again.

It was tough to plan for so many possibilities with the Japs having such a large consort of tnps and ACs/aircraft together. The previous round I could not be sure if they would all go to Caro, FIC or Hawaii, or split up. Preparing for them all at once was an incredible challenge. When you took them all to Hawaii I realized Australia was the real vulnerable one of the bunch, although I still had to defend W US and India very heavily. I wasn’t sure what to do until I discovered the awesome dynamic of zone 42 and how I could use it to create just about the largest stack of unprotected defending fighters A&A has probably ever seen. I thought the game was over when the British had such a disasterous start, but I think this match shows the beauty behind the overall gameplay of G40. And, I think it shows that Alpha 2 is an adaquately balanced version that did not need any major renovations.
Thank you for a great match. This was one of my favorite. I would love to fly into St. Louis one weekend and join in on some quality F2F with your gaming group. Thanks JA.

My greatest mistake was landing my airforce in Phi instead of FIC with an airbase last turn (gives me range to reach z54), then it would have forced you to deploy your fighters differently and I would have played out another round.
You are more than welcome to join our face to face sessions. My favorite game is still ongoing, Nothing to see hear had me beat by turn 5 or 6, however, I’ve been pulling small miracles in positioning and I think I have a chance at a comeback given that its round 17 now. lol
Regarding our face to face games, we have various skill levels in our group, so I often find myself using less conventional strategies to balance things out.
Early on, after your UK setback I wanted to fein a Sea Lion and draw the US towards Europe, even this last turns moves to Jordan and Egy were bait to draw UK resources away from India/Australia (which it turns out didn’t matter)…it could have played out differently if I did the FIC plan that I thought off a little too late :)
Since you mentioned flying, were do you live?
-
Not too far, Denver… or as it seems to be known as these days, Tebow Town.
Yes, the airbase plan is a good one. I had calculated enough regardless to protect India (especially with the ‘mighty’ Russian Airforce), and would not have attacked Jordan if you had gone to FIC, but yea, the airbase there would have been a strong move to threaten z54. Australia would have fallen I’m pretty sure, so my survival would depend on the Americans liberating either Hawaii or Hong Kong before a round was up.
I’m not kidding about coming out either…besides my kids, I have one hobby… A&A. Pretty shameful. I don’t ski anymore, don’t go out drinking, don’t go to sporting events anymore, don’t hunt anymore, don’t go boating, biking, hiking, or climbing, but I’ll be darned if I am going to quit A&A’ing. I havent been successful at getting an A&A group together here as yet…
