@oysteilo
any scramble?
11L Playoffs Rd 1 - Gamerman (Axis) vs. Lucky Lindy (Allies+8)
-
I some how did not see that your tank could get to BEL or I would have put three infantry there (oops, newbie mistake). This is going to get interesting.
So even though the rest of the attacks went poorly, the one that mattered most went perfectly. :| I guess I would be feeling pretty good if I wasn’t going to lose Moscow.

I hesitated to even make the attack (which I didn’t notice until Italy’s turn), because I don’t want anyone to say I won on a tricky, gamey can opener. But this is a playoff, and not a time to pull punches. Yes, the one attack that really mattered went well. Although your valiant infantry hit 50% of the time, it didn’t hit when it mattered. You could have stopped it at the price of 1 American bomber, but since I won that coin flip, Moscow and its 32 IPC’s are mine.
I felt I was in the driver’s seat despite the hurt you’re putting on Japan… But it’s certainly your right to disagree. Not that it matters, because as it stands now I can take Moscow easily with 8 tanks and I do believe this game is over. I guess your luck failed you on the battle that mattered most, even as you had ridiculous luck in Manchuria, Hupeh, and TrJ… :|

(if Bel was cleared and not taken)
-
But “seeing things” is part of the game. JWW let me have it in South Africa, smashing all my bombers on a tricky attack from Z35 I hadn’t seen. I remember back learning the Classic game in the early 90’s, when seeing or failing to see possibilities often won and lost games… It’s rare that it does now
-
And after making that Italian move, I went and checked on my chess games and saw I pulled a real boner… 3 pawns and a rook vs. 1 pawn and a rook, and I gave away my rook by allowing him to check me with my rook behind… happens to everybody. It’s part of game-playing, and sometimes the boners are game-losing… :oops:

Maybe you will get another bad luck result when you attempt to take Moscow… :wink: here’s hoping.

Allies are in big big trouble thats for sure. Too bad that it came down to a coin flip but a good lesson. :|

That’s the spirit. Two 1-2 percenters have gone against me already in 4 short rounds, so why not 1 more? I’m gonna have to send in enough tanks to get 99% odds because if I only have 90% odds and fail, it will drive me crazy.
-
True, if you made that attack and failed, it would almost certainly be game over!
-
Oh, I don’t think that would be game over, but we should slow down the talk and keep this game moving.
