    Less than ONE percent!
    Right up there with my escapades with Japan last game.  Losing a cruiser in Zone 50 on round 1 - jeez.

    So yeah, 7% chance of failing to take Z5 or losing everything including the Battleship (or higher than 7% if you would have retreated with the battleship intact) is 7 times more likely than what happened to me at Manchuria.  :-)  Oh well, them’s the breaks.  We all get burned from time to time.  UK2 was just not your time to get burned bad  :wink:

  • Here’s what I don’t know… never ran into this before.  If I had to retreat from the Z5 battle, what happens to the fighters there were being sent to POL?  Do they have to attack?  I didn’t even think of that.  I guess they would have to attack at least one round, but in this case, if they couldn’t land in Z5 (their only legal landing spot), they would be lost if retreating after one round anyway.  That could have really hurt, I thought I was getting unlucky but now I feel like I got VERY lucky!

    Yes, you dodged a bullet even though you had 2/3 chance of losing nothing or only a sub.
    Yes, the air would have to attack one round.  Yes, without a carrier (which you almost lost) you would be losing both fighters anyway so you would fight to the death anyway.  Both fighters flew 3 spaces to get to Poland?  Then yes, as you pointed out, if you had taken ONE more hit, you would have lost 2 more fighters!  You did dodge a major bullet there.

    If it would have been my parting cruiser shot, I suppose you might have been better off losing the battleship, with only the carrier surviving so that you could pick up air from Poland.

    That double miss (when I was wishing for a double hit) turns out to be HUGE

    I caught that after I left the computer.  I actually had to start it up again (complete with windows updates) to correct myself, but you beat me to it.

    Anyway, you were still one hit from losing a carrier, and I know you’ve learned your lesson, which helps me live with the near miss of a disaster for you!  :cry:
